I logged onto the ST Twitch channel and was hosting some of the runners... (since I had tech issues and couldn't race myself). Hopefully we can get some more activity on there (and on the forum here) in the coming weeks with more people playing it on Twitch recently.

Looking at streaming tonight (November 4), possibly starting around 9. The theme will be more of my "first games ever." Tonight will be sorta the 2nd wave of games I first got as a kid (1990-1991), which happens to include... ahem... Join if you dare! www.twitch.tv/Coralcola

I streamed for the first time last night: www.twitch.tv/Coralcola . The theme for my first stream (hey, I rhymed!) was "my first games ever." I got my NES Christmas of 89 (so no ST yet), with about 7 games. I played my first games with the exception of Mario and Zelda (which everyone on Twitch plays) and the kiddie games I used to have (i.e. Sesame Street & Fisher Price). The stream has been saved and can be found here: www.twitch.tv/coralcola/v/23595153It took an hour for tech issues to be resolved, so I had to restart the stream 4 times (which are not included on that video), but with some of my real-life friends on there, we got it worked out. It runs about 2 hours, and all the games I played are played "cold," so there was no prior practice. See what 26 years of gaming has done for my raw skill of these games...

Welcome! Love the badge. Favorite video game... one that started it all... Pong? Not a bad choice.

I had this brought to my attention in a Twitch chat at some point awhile back. It was uploaded in 2011, so I wonder if it's floated around here at some point? Either way, these are excellent covers of ST1 & ST2 songs. /Then I thought... wow, these songs would make for great inclusions in a fan-made ST3 of some kind... but they don't quite fit with an 8-bit vibe... *wheels start turning* EDIT AGAIN: Looking at Youtube sidebar, I found this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvD1dngzN4w . HOLY nuts! South Pacific vibes like mad!

Admin Note: *Merged the two topics as both were talking about the same thing.*
It was only a matter of time. Considering both could still be played in the Wii mode, anybody who has a Wii U and would be interested in playing them probably already had them (especially considering the Wii sales numbers vs. Wii U). I don't expect it will generate a lot of sales/buzz (again, especially considering the Wii U track record), but at least they're still available in some form for newcomers.

Not to speak on his behalf, but DT has also speedrun Wizards & Warriors, Mega Man 6, Strider, and other games (currently trying to do Whomp 'Em I believe too). So, if any of these interest you, DT would be a knowledgeable resource.

I was talking to ZodaStone and Darkterrex the other night and we had a thought: ST's 25th anniversary is coming up VERY soon (December), and we should do something special. I feel like, if possible, all of us with the ability to stream on Twitch should get together and do a massive ST race or general playthrough to celebrate. I will start streaming within the next month, and I know you already do Scotty. Does anyone else on the forum here? ZodaStone, DarkTerrex, Exods, Philosoraptor, DriftingSkies, Lostleader8, MrGoBananas, DarkwingDuck, Fattninja, and TheTantalus are Twitch people who I know have streamed ST at some point in the past, so they could be potential participants, along with possibly others. Of course, in an ideal world, a massive update/release for ST3 would be amazing to accompany this, but I don't know how feasible that is... Thoughts?

Zoda runs ST2 on his channel in addition to ST1, but considering SGDQ, it's probably a minor miracle ST1 was even there unfortunately... Maybe next year it can done as a package deal, as they do ST1+ST2 speedruns together (so it's basically a 2+ hour marathon). I can see that being exciting, and exposing both games to more people, even though many may have only heard of the first one.

Speaking of Monopoly... Wonder if I should make a StarTropics themed Monopoly. And if I did... should I base it on ST1, ST2, or both? Anyway, my favorite board games are: Bionicle (even though it can get a tad unbalanced when a character starts to do well), and... well.. an RPG-ish game I made where you travel through time, and use potions to gain various effects that affect you both in battle or/and moving on the board. It still has its flaws, but I really dig it. Oh, and absolutely RISK. Ooh, StarTropoly? I think using both games would be a much "richer" experience. It would also provide you more locations from which to base the properties on (as well as other things).

Okay, since nobody picked up on it, I'll put out some new q's. 1. The space to blow up in ST2 chapter 5 that reveals the path to the dungeon is how many spaces "vertically" from where the "deformed" cactus is? 2. How many slices of pizza did Cleopatra eat? 3. What could we assume the slugs in ST1's dungeons "morphed" into for ST2 (one in particular)? 4. What "non-boss" enemy did not have its sprite change at all between ST1 and ST2? IN OTHER WORDS5. Tis piquant, but irrelevant. 6. Thou hath a mondo ticker. 7. Beacon pistol 8. Busts of Fraternal Συμοξηο (I pulled a fast one on the last word cuz there's no other word for it/way to describe it) Good luck! 1.- I think it was 3 (being the cactus tile zero). 2.- 8 slices. (That scene took a while so it has to be 8) 3.- Pink slime balls. 4.- Bats 5.- Chicken Nugget? 6.- You got a big heart! 7.- Laser gun 8.- Since 1-4 are already answered, and 6 and 7 are as well...I know that 5 is "It's delicious, but nothing happens" And you stumped me with 8 as well. 1-7 *APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE APPLAUSE* 8: At least one of my questions wasn't super easy I guess... lol... As a note though, you could swap "fraternal" with "identical" too (depending on the... ahem... situation), and the same result would occur.
