Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Chances are if someone is using this message board, they have beaten this game before (probably multiple times). It's not like there are many new people that have recently discovered this game.

There's two versions of StarTropics III that are currently being worked on... one by myself and one by Matt. My game will feature Mike as the main character because in my opinion, it wouldn't be a StarTropics game without him in the lead. Also, rest assured, there will be no time travel in mine. I definitely have some large plans as far as islands and Sub-C goes but it will probably be months before I even get to it. In the meantime, you can find my other thread on the progress of my game including a demo here startropics.proboards41.com/index.cgi?board=stgames&action=display&thread=1127703215

The NES games use EEPROM which is definately not the standard today. Todays memory is much better therefore not having to do weird things such as holding reset. Personally, I never bothered with holding down the button and I think that out of all my games, I only had everything erased once or twice. www.webopedia.com/TERM/E/EEPROM.html

Contra........Nope never heard of it. Wow I'm shocked. That was easily one of the best games ever made on the NES. I'd like to see Mike in Super Smash Bros.

One of my goals for my StarTropics 3 game (if I ever start working on it again) is to create a level editor. I have a much easier time programming than designing levels so if you guys actually would use it, I might make it eventually and include your levels in the game.

Since I was so young at the time, the only thing I remember about that commercial was watching the whale come up out of the water and swallow you. After watching that I decided I needed to get it.

I think he's just toying with you guys. Surely if there is some kind of cheat in StarTropics, one of us would know about it already.

To comment on your points coralcola: 1) I completely agree with you there. That does look a little too pathetic for me to even consider taking it serious. 2) Camelot is actually the ones who made the latest Mario Golf and maybe some other recent ones. If this was real, Nintendo would allow them to make a game using their characters without actually selling anything. 1) This is not necessary true. First of all, Nintendo is extremely secretive as we all know. Second of all, games sometimes don't get announced until late in the development cycle. 2) Again, the announcement thing. 3) Yeah that would be cool to have him for a trophy if he is not playable. If I remember correctly from that far back, Windapple actually sent Nintendo an email asking him if he could create a fan game. So as long as I don't send an email to them . As was pointed out in another thread, there are lots of Nintendo based fan games across the internet. I personally think the only way they would get angry is if I was profiting from their game. This was also mentioned elsewhere, if for some reason I do get a cease and desist order, all I really have to do is change the graphics and music. The gameplay could be the same but I just wouldn't be able to use any official things. All and all, I wouldn't worry too much. If I had intentions of keeping the game low key, I wouldn't have made my own website featuring it.

Not to spoil it or anything, but internet petitions almost NEVER work. I'm sorry that's just the way it is. As much as I would like it to work, it will probably be ignored by Nintendo.

Wow this is absolutely amazing! This should easily cut my time in half on recreating the entire overworld for my game since the entire thing is already done for me. Nice find!
