Are you still planning on making your own true "ST3" story/linear game? Or, are you calling your ST3 editor/game a "tool for people to make their own ST3's," or...? I ask in part because I'm curious myself and (at least on Twitch, where I hang a lot these days) some people still think there's a huge ton of content to be released (aka, an actual full ST3 game to eventually be played: i.e. the ST speedrunners are discussing racing ST3 when it's complete). I've not been sure of the status myself, and I've not wanted to give out inaccurate information, so I've pretty much been giving a bunch of "IDK's." That's an excellent question, and to be honest, I don't really know the answer. As of right now, I would say that it could be rebranded as a StarTropics Maker utility, not a full game. That said, I would love to release a full game using it, but I wouldn't expect anything in at least a few years. Unless I can form a team here of an artist to make me some boss sprites, a writer to write the dialogue (I have the general basis for the storyline), and MJ comes back with dungeon support, I wouldn't expect a full game anytime soon. I wouldn't rule it out completely though. Under the Southern Cross, anything is possible!

I can't really say if this will become a favorite, but I'm pretty pumped for it. This is the only thing I've ever backed on kickstarter.

Glad to hear ST3 still has a spot on your desktop I would say it's still alive, even if I haven't updated it in a long time. Aside from bosses, I'm pretty content with what features the editor has currently though so there isn't a ton of work to do. You can pretty much make an entire game with it as is almost. Now if someone had some feature requests and wanted to give me a large sum of money, I can take some time off of work and do some stuff for you

Awesome dungeon Scotty! Took me a few tries but I was finally able to beat it. If I had to make one critique, it would have to be with the rod of sight. I went around trying to use the rod in every room and ran out and blocked myself from progressing. I had to kill myself Other than that, lots of fun. Looking forward to more!

Nicely done foulco! That's a very impressive demo that you've got going on there.
I made ST3 as a challenge to myself to learn C#. That said, there are a lot of decisions that were made during development that I would absolutely do over. For instance, I used GLUT for the main game loop and input and what not. These days I would just code all of that myself. And you're right about mine not being frame perfect. When I started working on ST2 monsters, that is when I discovered I was calculating the elapsed time incorrectly.
I hope you do continue on with this. It's very well done. I bundle all of the images and audio with my ST3 so the assets are all available to anyone who needs them.

I experimented with adding a wiki to startropics.com in the past. Ultimately, I never followed through with it because I don't have the time to ensure that people aren't abusing it (inaccurate/inappropriate text, images, etc). I'm more than willing to update startropics.com if you have some additional content or info you'd like to see posted.

lecayle - Looks like I just forgot to put up the help file in the new installer I redid awhile back. I'll make sure it's fixed for the next version.
Coralcola - If you send me the dungeon, I can get it fixed up for you.

Voted! I ended up having to cut down my paragraph down as well. I feel like I could have written a 20 page dissertation as to why he should be in Smash Bros.

We play a lot of the more obscure games here at work. Many can be found here: boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgameTwilight Struggle is great (a former co-worker of mine actually made this one) Other games I've enjoyed playing in the past: Puerto Rico Chaos in the Old World Small World The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow Betrayal at House on the Hill Twilight Imperium Race for the Galaxy I'm sure there's more. We've played so many different ones here but these are the one's that stand out to me.

I love my Zelda... but I don't have a Wii U. When it releases, I may pick up the system just for it. MJ - I strongly encourage you to grab A Link Between Worlds. It's easily one of my favorite Zelda's in recent memory, especially if you're a fan of A Link To The Past. I'll definitely be playing some Elder Scrolls Online too Other than that, I just got a PS4 this week so I'll be playing some The Last of Us and The Order. We'll see after that.

CKY2K is correct. I'm just one guy who made both the game/editor for fun, which I was able to do back when I had this mythical thing I used to know called "free time". This existed back before I had a wife/kid/house/job.
Version numbers are an arbitrary thing by the developers, and I never update mine because I don't really care. This could be version 26.8 or 728.1 if I wanted it to be.
StarTropics III actually allows you to drop in custom textures, music, and sound effects. I don't expose that in the editor but you can simply replace the ones in you install folder with an equivalent file. As long as it's in the proper format, it'll read it in.

I read an article the other day where Sakurai address the question, "How are characters selected [to be in Smash Bros.]?". Here's a bit of what he had to say: I believe Mike has a few strikes against him. 1) popularity isn't there overseas. 2) He believes ST has no future 3) Potentially overlaps with Ness some That said, Nintendo did just announce the first DLC yesterday which introduced Mewtwo as a fighter. So there's still hope!
