Okay, I'll try to explain this as best as possible... When you click on one of the sections on the General Site (this one is General StarTropics), right below all the topics should be a horizontal list of options: new thread, new poll,... Click on New poll, and on the top of the next screen is where you post the question, and below it is where you can put up to 8 possible responses. You can also post a message in the usual way, if you want. Did you get all that?

Star Tropics 1 plain and simple. Face it, what right minded teenager would walk around with a hatchet or a katana (apart from Napolean Dynamite). The yo-yo made the game. And what is with Mike's sudden urge to dye his hair black? And the koopa cameo, what's up with that? Mario has enough games of his own, stay out of ST.

Another game where you use a Yoyo as one of your weapons is Legend of the Mystical Ninja.

Just to clear up a few things about Earthbound for coracola:
Ness's main weapon wasn't the yo-yo. It was actually a bat. The yo-yo was just one of the weapons you could get along the RPG storyline (along with the sling-shot and many different baseball bats with varying attack power). And in the actual game his psychic abilities weren't called pk flash, pk fire, pk thunder... They were just flash, fire and so on, and he had many more psychic moves than just those: Healing, Flash alpha, Flash gamma, flash omega, Life-up, PSI sheild alpha, omega... the list goes on... Another thing is that Ness didn't actually use Fire or Thunder, it was another character named Paula (theres a trophy of her available in super smash melee). She used the more elemental psychic moves like fire, thunder and ice.
Anyway, I think RPG lovers would enjoy Earthbound for the SNES. As for it on the NES I heard it was never released, but there are ROMs for the beta version of the NES game...

Yeah, just a few days ago, I tried out EarthBound for an emulator on my computer, and realized some of my error with Ness and his weapons. I also now remember seeing on Super Smash Bros Melee for GC that Paula was the one with the "elemental" powers, who I think taught Ness how to use some of them during the course of the game. After first learning about Earthbound from Melee (I had never even heard of it before I first played Melee and won the trophies associated with it) I saw a few connections between it and StarTropics and got paranoid for a moment... Now I know how it works, and I have no reason to worry anymore.

I like the first st game because it's plain and simple. Just the way I like my games. I love every thing that's old. Old games , old movies. Even old people. It's as simple as that.

I expected it... But I am glad there are at least 3 people who do see the greatness in ZR. I personally think it was a really excellent companion to ST, but that because it was released so late in the NES's existence and ST wasn't an explosive hit in the first place, it was doomed to a overshadowed and overlooked existence in the video game world...
I love the plot, I'm all about time travel, and I think the graphics are the best an NES could ever do. The plot I think was thicker and more complex then the first, and I think the ending was better then the first. I love the game to death, but ST had a sorta more complex and harder gameplay, and it was the first game of the series, meaning props had to immediately be given for starting the idea in the first place. ;D The setting, tones, and characters were major in ST too, and that is probably why I had to vote for ST myself, but it was close... I did have to give it a lot of thought.

ZR for me. Played the first one, it's a classic, I love it and all, but ZR was simply better. The controls were oh-so-less frustrating, you didn't have to move like a snail, and I just liked it better. The music was awesome, plus metting the historical figures. It had alot more diversity in levels and I felt it perfected ST's already great style.
Don't get me wrong, I like the first one alot, I'm a big Tropics fan. But the coolness of it all, and the fact I've gotten to the last level on it, makes me vote ZR.
