Hey guys, I'm new to the forums. I discovered StarTropics when it came with a used NES I bought on eBay, along with Dragon Warrior and Super Mario Bros./Duckhunt. I fell in love with the game and its yo-yo tossin', bat swingin' hero (not much of a surprise, seeing as I'm a huge fan of the MOTHER series. I have a slight conspiracy theory of Mike being an ancestor of Lucas. I mean, come on. Look at the psychic powers and the hair!). Anyway, I hope to have fun here! PS: I can't be the only person to have done this.  |

9/15/08: Like the plague, a new disease is spreading amongst users of online video game fandom. The new disorder, Bananaearitis, is reportedly spreading faster than the plague that seized control of Europe 500 years ago. Doctors point to the cult classic video game StarTropics as the root of this new medical mystery.
Doctor Mark DeMorra, a big fan of the video game StarTropics along with being a frequenter of video game forums and a diehard game show fan, says that the disease can be easily avoided. "The general public, and even video game fans online can avoid Bananaearitis by taking a couple of easy preventative steps right now. These include locking all copies of the game StarTropics in cold storage, unreachable via normal methods. Also, taking all bananas in video gamers' households and burning them over an open fire is recommended, preferably over a roast succulent ham, creating a very tasty and tropical dish that will be sure to take people's minds off this new threat."
