Hi, I want to be able to play the Startropics games on the road with me. So, I got a r4 card and a NES emulator NesDS. Startropics 2 doesn't seem to work in NesDS. Does anyone know of a way to get it to worl? Or if a different emulator can play it?
Sorry if ROM talk is not allowed on here. I'm not trying to steal any games, i just want to play startropics on the go. I own boxed copies of both NES games, just getting to a TV is not convenient lately. If this topic is not allowed please delete it. Thanks

I also have a DS flash cart and I can tell you that Zoda's Revenge doesn't work for me either. There's a few other games that won't work as well such as Mike Tyson's Punch Out, unfortunately I don't think there's anything that you can do to fix this problem.

I use PocketNES which is a GBA NES emulator instead of a DS one. I have a slot 2 flash card called M3 Perfect.
Zoda's Revenge works fine on that. I believe it doesn't work on stuff like NESDS because NESDS is very undeveloped compared to PocketNES, and Zoda's Revenge has some type of lock out code which I think prevents pirating or stuff like that.

I've never used a slot 2 card. Is it easy to use? I've heard you have to do some special patch to GBA roms to save them. It that a pain to do? Is it easy to save date from NES roms(specifically Zodas Revenge)? Also, Does anyone have a suggestion of a good Slot 2 card? Also any suggestions on a good place to get it with a decent price? Thanks!!

I have an M3 Perfect with a Passcard that enables me to make my slot-2 card go into DS mode. I think the M3 slot 2 devices are out of production now though which is stupid since slot-2 allows GBA mode as well as NDS mode.
PocketNES doesn't need any patching but if you use PocketNES, you have to compile all your NES roms into a single GBA ROM using programs.

Well I just heard that there's a new flash card out called SuperCard DSTwo that can emulate GBA pretty nicely but not 100%.
So hey, why not play startropics on a NES emulator that's running on a GBA emulator?

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered a cheap slot 2 card. thanks for the advice

I'm a little tight on money, so i tried to find the cheapest one. I got an EZFlash 3 in 1. I did a little searching and read that it will do GBA games. Hope it works...

For Slot-1 R4 carts, you can try an emulator called NesterDS+. It runs the game, but you have to set the framerate right so the animation doesn't look choppy. I don't think you can save state there, though. It also runs famicom games.

Forget the Hollywood mess. If I was host, I'd have Wheel tape on C-Island. :)

Think this (or any of the other associated problems) are because ST2 is one of the few NES games that uses the MM6 mapper and it was not implemented? FYI, in case someone is scratching their head what I'm talking about: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Management_ControllerI thank VNES for expanding my tech knowledge to have come up with this idea... whether or not it be right or wrong or stupid...
