I'm a frequent visitor to VNES: www.virtualnes.comIt's a great site run by a group of hardcore NES-ters and video game junkies who seem to enjoy the old time games as much as we do. In their most recent update, they added about 8 or 9 new games, including one called The Legend of the Ghost Lion *it's in the list in this link* www.virtualnes.com/list/l.htmlPlay it a little bit... I had never heard of this game before they just loaded it up there, and it apparently wasn't particularly popular (it was released in 1992, late in the NES life), but is it just me, or does a lot of that seem AWFULLY familiar?? Holy wow, I'm immediately seeing FF's gameplay mechanics with Zelda-esque story points (rubies, fairies, keys for doors, etc.) and ST graphics (the game was released after all three of those had been). That first room you play in reminded me to a TEE of Chapter 7 in the ancient ruins, and the overworld looks like it could've been 2 miles from C-Island! THOSE PALM TREES LOOK LIKE THEY'RE FROM THE SAME MOTHER COCONUT!!! *Or is just me that looks like he's coconuts?*

Wow at the beginning of the game the dungeon map couldn't be any more like Startropics'. I was shocked when I saw how similar it was . The main character's sprite also reminds me of how the village girls look in Startropics. Appearance wise this game is definitely very similar to Startropics ;D.

I was also very surprised! I even went looking for the big rock. The game looks fun, too bad it's an RPG.. RPGs don't really lure me like they used to.. perhaps cause they take so long to finish.. But I loooved the art for the characters. And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was inspired by StarTropics.

Good find, coralcola. I only played a little bit for now, but it seems like it could be a pretty in-depth game.

The game was alright, but I never made it too far into it.
A true ST+Zelda+FF would involve Mike gathering a party of four warriors, each with a magic rock, and slapping Ganon around. Oh, and there's a princess in there somewhere.

I'm missing what reference you're making. And you mean Ganon+Zoda having allied themselves, and the ole infamous Epic tense frigging wow exciting holy mofo wtf hard Big time big guy bigass boss battle always at the end of an FF game will be from Zoda and Ganon morphing together in the princess's (or maybe that should be plural) castle that was dropped on C-Island. I get 1 adjectival point for the day...

Mike's other warriors would be:
Mica (Black Mage type) ((no female white mage stereotypes, please)) Nav-Com (heavy artillery)
if you're used to four party members, then the 4th one would be...
The Shaman! .. or Baboo...or Steve...

A perfect example is the crystals from FF3-5, but it also applies to he Magicite from FF6.

Ahhhhhhh, okay, magicite and the crystals I know *I have FF2 & 3 for the SNES*, but I never knew they were all, I guess, collectively termed as the "magic rocks." My bad... Add in there a level up system such that when Mike's magic reaches max, his greatest weapon will be the Ultimate Mega Super-Duper Huge Powerful Kickass Psychic Shockwave...

Is its damage based on Mike's current HP level?

Is its damage based on Mike's current HP level? But of course! How else could you get a chance to see Mike "walk the dog" over Yum-Yum's dinner?
