Seriously, are there any Indiana Jones references in the StarTropics series? Here are all the IJ references I can think of:
* Dr. Steve Jones is based on Dr. Indiana Jones. They are both doctors and archaeologists with "Jones" as their last names.
* Zoda looks similar to the antagonist of The Temple of Doom, Mola Ram.
* There are some rolling bowling balls in some dungeons of the original ST, which is a reference to the best-known scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark: the rolling boulder. Besides this, Indy and Mike also encountered several other booby traps.
* IJ and ST both explore history. ST shows several weapons that are now obsolete, even the yo-yo (a.k.a. Island Yo-yo, Island Star) was first invented as a weapon, similar to the whip, but weaker and cannot be used to swing across gaps and pits nor to grab hard-to-reach objects.
* Indy hates snakes, and snakes are a little tough in the ST series.
That's about all I can think of.

Yup, I noticed most of that too. Except.. wasn't the rolling boulder from the Temple of Doom, instead of Raiders of the Lost Ark?

Probably an influence to the game.

Ahh I see. Oh well, anyway, StarTropics is practically based on Indiana Jones. Kinda like Metroid was inspired by Alien movies. I like how one of the reviewers compared the Osteroid to the Zentradi Walker-Pods from Macross/Robotech. If you take off the Osteroid's head, it turns out to be exactly the same (Except the color). Other references: -Pinocho reference? (giant whale + way of escaping it) -Yellow Submarine > Beatles' song (Sub-C is a yellow submarine. XD) -Chief Coralcola was supposedly based on Gendi Tatakovski (sp?) Tetris' creator. -Chief Miracola kinda rescembles Mario.. if you put a red cap on him.. and he's chief of MIRAcola (Mira... Maricola... MARI..) oh well.. thinking a bit too much, am I? I better get back to my project. *shuts himself in secret lab once more*

That explains why in ST2 Chief Coral Cola is a tetris pro.

-Chief Coralcola was supposedly based on Gendi Tatakovski (sp?) Tetris' creator. First, it's Genndy Tartakovski. Second, you got the wrong guy. Alexey Pajitnov was the one who created Tetris. Genndy made cartoons from back when Cartoon Network had quality.
