Yeah I just re-beat Zoda's Revenge. YOu might tell.. Anyways, people complain that STon the Wii would be too much like Zelda. Well I'd beg to differ. If StarTropics would ever be released for the Wiiware, Wii, or DS, I think they should stick to the overhead view. Even if the game's in 3D. This way, it'll be easier to tell them apart from the Zelda franchise. StarTropics was always a linear game... Exploration is kept at a minimal (outside dungeons). Then they should focus on making more levels. Plot: Fanfics aside. XD what plot would be ideal for the new ST? Go back to the tropics' island-hopping adventure? I say yes. Extept this time you start out in Coralcola, and go on a whle different route. Maybe get a speedier submarine and reach.. I dunno, Hawaii, Galapagos, or who knows. Tentative title ideas: -StarTropics World Revolution -StarTropics Ressurrection (irony, I know) -StarTropics Rise of Argonia Ok.. I think you noticed I want an "R" somewhere in the title.

I would be happy if Nintendo did with Startropics what Capcom did with Megaman 9. Just keep the graphics and music 8 bit, I don;t know what Startropics would be like in 3D (although it would probably still be good ).

AND, if worse came to worse, you wanted to argue that it should be a LONGER game (as you were shinigami), I'll return to an idea I've brought up in a mocking fashion... Zoda A-W anyone?? *Truly, think about it* /A-W, got a hankering for root beer now.

As far as titles go, I thought maybe the third one could be called Argonian Ballad or something like that. Just my two cents worth.

I imagine Mike going out into space or something, going to Zoda's planet and such.

Going to Argonia either by accident, or by a desperate call, only to find everyone has become "Zodified". All 7 children AND Hirocon.
You would have to fight all these Zodas to release them. Each of the children represent a musical note.
Mica would be Zoda Mi. The others would be Zoda Do, Zoda Re, Zoda Fa, Zoda So, Zoda Ti...
Upon releasing them, you also gain a mystical note. When you gather all mystical notes, you play the special tune, and you free the last member of the royal family. Mica's MOM!

I thought we already had a sequel called Star Tropics 2: Zoda's Revenge.

We speak of a new sequel...a ST3, if you will.

See now, that's a unique, creative, intelligent, (well played with the Zoda Mi=Mica too) yet not too tangential from the first two games, even if the ending might be a slight bit predictable *then again, we can't have an ending with rainbows, unicorns, and fairies, eh?* Your idea gets my seal of approval (yeah, yeah, which isn't much, but milk it for what it's worth while you can)...

You know what? There's been a lot of discussing about Mica being playable in ST3. I think it's a great idea. Except... where did she learn how to fight? Mike was an ace pitcher, so his fighting skills revolved around that a lot. If Argonia was a peaceful race, then there was no meaning in Mica learning the ways of combat. Enter my theory/idea. (I'm gonna summarize this to get to the point, risking it sounding less epic). While Mike was travelling through time, collecting Tetrads. Mica, next to Chief Coralcola, were the only two people who could keep an eye for trouble in the islands. Not much after Mike had found the first Tetrad, trouble rises in the islands nearby, starting on a cave south of CoralCola village. It appears that in order for there to be balance in the world, ghouls from enemies that Mike has defeated across the ages are popping up everywhere, all around the tropics. And it's up to Mica to stop them! Basically, they learn of what's going on through Merlin, who pops up in the present, and warns Mica and the Chief. Merlin asks Mica if she's up to the task of destroying these ghouls. Mica accepts, and is granted the power of the Psychic Shockwave. By contacting Dr.Jones telepathycally, Mica gains the code to the Sub-C, and together with Nav-com goes on a quest to save the islands. Mica's version of the Psychic Shockwave is always a tad stronger. Throughout her adventure she'll find "ancient argonian legendary spell scrolls" which will replace the weapons. Torch -> Fireball Bolas -> Flying rocks Asterisk -> Psychic Sawblades Baseball bat -> Luna wave Horsehydes -> Pulse waves etc... Scepter Flashlamp Snowman doll and other secret items remain the same. Mica's story end when she defeats the last Ghoul, and Zoda W. Then she goes back to Coralcola and falls victim to Zoda Z's trap. She wasn't aware of the multiple Zodas. Then the story continues when Mike returns to C-island. And that's it! Sounds like a possible Rom.Hack project.

Actually, that doesn't sound too bad, but here's what I propose:
Basically, before they release a STIII, Nintendo should remake the first two games as a means of refreshing the series. However, instead of making two separate games, they should do it as one game (ST I & II), but with some better graphics and a revised control scheme. The top-down look should remain the same, though with 3D models instead of sprites.
It would be on DS, since the Wii doesn't seem too fitting for StarTropics. The bottom screen could have a bit of use, like a map and a "quick-item" button for things like potions, but nothing that a vet can't turn off on the options screen.
Then they could have your Mica idea as a separate game, a "side-story" running concurrent with Mike's adventure in STII, which could also help to explain some plot points that STII itself didn't quite cover (like how Zoda got to Dr. J again), before finally reunitiing with Mike in the very end. It could also establish some additional material for STIII, thus making it all connected.
I figure that very few people will have motivation to buy what they'll see as "a third-rate Zelda" (sad, but true), but those that are willing to give it a try can get the full story in one purchase. Then, if fan response is good, they can go ahead with STIII.

That's a good idea too. But instead of having the whole game be one, why not make it a 2in1 game (like Final Fantasy Origins / Phantasy Star)
I know it's weird the fact that your hearts are reduced to 3 even though ZR starts where ST left off... But it'll be even MORE weird if this happens in mid-game.
The DS seems like a good place for ST. I can only wish for the Wii version, though, as that is the place where games (outside Pokemon) shine.
But yeah, a remake prior to the threequel is a MUST!

But it'll be even MORE weird if this happens in mid-game. That was my idea, and I'm sorry if it sounded out of context. Basically, it'd be like Final Fantasy I&II for the GBA: the two separate games as the main package, plus Mica's story as a third bonus game.

Something that should probably be fixed is the fact that you could bring your past weapons to the new dungeons. Until you die anyway. So there's a merit if you don't die at all. Get to choose what weapons to keep, even if they don't expand the slots available, so when you get to Chapter 7 for example, you have kept the Asterisks, the Cleats, and perhaps the mirror.

I dunno... Personally, limiting weapons and items to the dungeons you find them in was what made them more essential. I'd probably make it so that you could keep potions between stages, but everything else stays behind when you leave the dungeon.
