How would I go about suggesting to Nintendo to add StarTropics to the virtual console line up on the Nintendo Wii?
Also, has anyone else already done so?

Are you talking about the StarTropics III rumor for the Wii? If not, then change this thread's name from "StarTropics on Wii" to "StarTropics on the Virtual Console".

ST has already been just about confirmed for the VC, I believe. If an official release hasn't been made, than there have been more than just a few hints and/or suggestions and/or comments made to suggest it will be on there soon... Have patience luigi, and welcome to C-Island (you're wearing the right color, if nothing else)!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/1111339/images/MlfOjABkieOZCMYDEOcG.gif)

Werd. I've been resisting the urge to bust out the NES and play StarTropics, just waiting for the virtual console release.

This means playing the original StarTropics on the Wii, right? Or are you talking about a threequel??

it's bound to happen...it costs them next to nothing to put games onto virtual console, so even if just the patrons of this forum bought it, it would still give them mucho profit...then we can begin hoping for a sequel...*rubs hands together and cackles very evilly*

I dunno about mucho profit, if all of us bought 3 copies of each game, it would probably equal a few days work of testing/bug fixing for a team of 3 or so people. and if i recall, ST2 uses some kind of new sound chip, which probably hasnt been emulated yet, but i could be wrong... Dont fret though, there are plenty of sites that review VC games, and do it pretty well.

Dont fret though, there are plenty of sites that review VC games, and do it pretty well. First of all, I believe that they could release any NES game they want on VC. I don't think they would have left anything out even for the games released late in the console's life. Also, 3 people buying ST on VC would end up being $15. That's not even enough for a full hour of one person's day. I'm not sure if they actually need to do any testing or bugfixing on those games though. Don't take it personally, I just happen to disagree with you here.

Nothing taken personal, they have to make sure there arent any bugs at all, nintendo wouldnt realease a game without testing. Plus they have to release it to ESRB, and i've no idea how much that costs.
And by not emulated yet, i mean its definately possible, just that nintendo hasnt released any VC games needing it, so they probably have to write that into the emulator. (the first nes game you download is a large file size, every other NES title is much smaller, the same goes for every platform. coincidence?)

You've gotta figure, though...that most emulators on the internet have the ability to play Zoda's Revenge (including the emulator that I have just recently found, Console Classix...which rules). It shouldn't be too hard for Nintendo to write the chip into the emulator.
[EDIT]I just realized that I have over 1,000 posts now!! Even though it's my 1,007th post! WOO HOO!!!![/EDIT]

All they are doing when they port a game to VC is running a ROM image, which takes very little time if you know what you're doing. and as to bugs, look at the Gamecube version of Ocarina of Time, which was created using the same method. That game is notorious for having bugs and glitches. It just comes with the territory of porting games.

My only concern would be the notorious chapter 4... Nintendo would be forced to tweak that part so that it skips the password thing, OR... they could add an item somewhere in the past levels (like a bottle) containing the frequency #. I don't know which one's easier to do, but it's a shame people today won't know the benefits of having a letter attached to your game manual. I'm looking forward to the VC ST so bad...
