1992 for me. It was around the time that 90210 was real popular and it had episodes playing throughout the summer. The title screen of ST reminds me of the shooting star in the beach scene of the show where Dylan cheats on Brenda while she's away in Paris.
Anyways, I laugh at myself for having been part of a generation that put through that.
But yeah, ST has a lot of elements that are found in drama shows and stuff.

Oh man...I think it was when I was 5...so that would be 1991. My mom had borrowed it from a friend and she got hooked on it so she went out and bought it. She taught me how to play shortly thereafter and I immediately got hooked on it as well.

I can't even begin to take a guess. Me and ST go back as far as I can remember. As far back as my memory goes StarTropics has always been there. I've spent so many hours of my early childhood watching my big brother play it that I can't think about it without remembering him. It would help if his name wasn't Mike though.....

About 5 years ago my cousin picked it up cheap at a swap meet & forgot about it at my Grandma's house.
About 2 years ago, in summer, I was board so I picked ST up. It was hard, so I Game Genied (first play only) & fell in love with it after that. Now I'm Game Genie free, thought still ST addicted.

Forget the Hollywood mess. If I was host, I'd have Wheel tape on C-Island. :)

Well, it came out in 1990, and I got it that XMAS, so that makes it 17 years strong for me this upcoming December... How long did it take before I beat it? Ehh, well, I was only 4 when I got it, and ST2 came out in 94, so I'll have to estimate 3 years on down, probably more like 2. I was young, inexperienced, starting school, and had the rest of my "starting lineup" of VG's that I was also working through. Never would guess I'd still have it, or still love it as much in *loud shocked voice* 2007!!!??

As soon as I saw the television commercial ad for it, the front cover of it became long-term memory for me. When I saw it in a local video rental store, I became curious about it, and rented it. The farthest I have gotten back then was when I got to Octo. He was very difficult to dodge his oil pellets he spits out. ST1 was fun, I enjoyed beating up C-Serpent and riding in Sub-C. For ST2:ZR, I guess I saw it's commercial with Mega Man 6's commercial, but then I ignored it, because I didn't see "StarTropics II" below "Zoda's Revenge" in the logo, which I didn't think it was the sequel to ST1. That might be one reason why ST2 didn't sell as well as ST1 did.

I was born in 86. The game came out in 1990. I don't remember when we got our Nintendo.
I remember we bought Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey (I believe it was the first game with NHL rosters) for around $90!
I think I started playing ST when it was pretty new though.

11 long, hard, years for me. I started playing it when i was only 2, and beet it about 4 months later, when i was 3. i lost it for about 9 years (took that long to get another one) after i sold my NES. I got ST1 and ST2 for Christmas of 05.
Oh, and something funny. I figured it would be an omen to a life-long love of ST. When i was 6-ish, the SNES was cheap, and HOT then. I desided to sell all 45-55 of my NES games and system to get it. Well, after coming home with a SNES and 10 games, I had to clean my room before playing it. I looked under my bed, and the only game left. Startropics, under the bead away from the box. I relised that I would be with the ST games for awhile then.
