Idk how many of you guys like/d FF7, some of you probably think it's too overrated (and in some ways it is) but I gotta hand it to these guys. Now I have the pc version of it, and I like to check in from time to time to see what mods have been made for it. There was the NPC Reconstruction project, which turned into the Phoenix Rejuvination Project, which bascially wanted to replace all character models. The problem was that no matter how nice the NPCs looked, the prerenered backgrounds looked worse and worse in comparison.
And then I came across the Team Avalanche Graphical Overhaul. Basically it is a massive project to recreate FF7 almost entirely. Atm it's mostly limited to the first bombing mission, but this I believe is nearing completion.
It certainly makes me wish we had the numbers on this forum to do the same for ST, but sadly I don't see that happening. Still, it shows what some diehard fans can accomplish on their own, and it's d**n impressive.

These fans are recreating FF7 in the same fashion squaresoft recreated final fantasy when they initially developed FF7, which is reiterate most of the old content and upgrade how it is presented. That's how I'd expect FF7 fans who really understood the impact of the game to go about carrying the torch forward, its certainly worth commendation. Now I admit I'd love to see Mike Jones hopping around in a 3 dimensional world with that silly smile on his face, but for Startropics I'll venture to say I'd rather see something other than a graphics change, more in the spirit of what made the nes titles unique in the gaming world, and I also think most of the creative work already present on this site tends in that direction.
