I know some of you are happy to hear (Shecolakitty & Parrothead) that Punch Out Wii has FINALLY been OFFICIALLY, confimred! "Right on!" Today I witnessed the return of NES Little Mac, King Hippo, and Glass Joe! I'm so flippin happy!! All I saw was a 3 second clip of Little Mac dodging Glass Joe and knocking him out, and I'm already in love with this game! Now for the usual attached speculation: Punch Out, in the past, was made by Genyo Takeda. Do you think this one also is? And... would it be possible for us to get StarTropics for the Wii if his team is back on action again??? (I could at least settle for Mike appearing as a cameo boxer in POW). www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=13041244&postcount=2353gonintendo.com/?p=58025www.gametrailers.com/player/40713.htmlOther news: Ports of Metroid Prime for the Wii Mario and Luigi RPG 3 Sin and Punishment 2 and some other interesting stuff. ^^

All RIGHT! Finally! I had my hopes up, and they always tell you not to do that in case your hopes aren't realized. But in this case, they were! I can only wonder when the approximate release date is scheduled...
... on a WTF note, they've got an interesting "Clayfighter spillits" thing going with the baguettes and croissants flying outta Joe there, don't they?

Well, it looks like Punch-Out!! Wii will most likely be the remake of the NES versions, but will it feature Super Macho Man or Mr. Dream as the final boxers to face? We know Mike Tyson will not return due to several bad things he did: (rape conviction, KOed by Buster Douglas, bit Holyfield's ear, etc.). The Punch-Out!! arcades weren't as successful as the NES versions due to being released in the middle of the North American Video Game Crash of 1983. Also, most people got tired of going to the arcades and stayed home playing home consoles, handhelds and computers. Super Punch-Out!! for the Super NES, despite having most of its reviews by big-name critics being positive, the game didn't seem to gain as much or more attention than the NES versions due to not starring Little Mac nor anymore boxers from the NES version other than Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman and Super Macho Man. When the blonde-haired protagonist of the game appeared in Fight Night Round 2, his appearance caused more Punch-Out!! fans to step further away from him, while shouting things like "That's not Little Mac! That's that Super Saiyan Brian Peppers guy on steroids and Enzyme! KILL HIM WITH FIRE!!!" You can tell me he is not Little Mac as many times as you want, but I already know it and I haven't being referring to him as "Little Mac" nor "SNES Mac" ever since Little Mac became an Assist Trophy in SSBB. Currently, the SNES Super Punch-Out!! protagonist is still staying in the dark, waiting for his next appearance in a Nintendo game to come.In my opinion, the SNES SPO protagonist has more moves, better winning taunts, and no offense but, doesn't look as dopey as Little Mac does. Also, he, the other boxers and the announcer were voiced by Charles Martinet before he later voiced Mario in Mario's Game Gallery (a.k.a. Mario's FUNdamentals). The SNES Super Punch-Out!! was the first Punch-Out!! game I've played. I laughed very hard at some boxers I fought against like Gabby Jay and Bear Hugger. The SNES version has more fight songs and was far more faithful to the arcade stand-up gameplay than the NES version does.

I like both versions almost the same.
There are many things I like from one, that I don't find in the other, etc.
What bugs me of the Snes boxer is his lack of identity. He has a sweet design, but I don't know what to call him! I guess I'll call him Dream Jr. or Big Whopper (opposite to Little Mac, I guess) But I love the variety of new moves, and the fact that you can rest. I also liked the weird characters that break the rules so openly (bringing staves, kicking, spitting, headbutting, etc).
On the NES, I liked the music a lot, victory music was more awesome, and the funny changing quotes.. Oh, and who can forget about Doc Lou!?
I honestly don't care how the franchise was revived, but I'm extremely pleased that it did! This might be the second game I actually look forward to playing. (First was Brawl).
Now that Nintendo is all into the cameo busyness... it'd be awesome to see some familiar faces from Pilotwings, StarTropics (chief Coralcola boxing please?) or even fighting the SUPER Punch Out character! Either as a final boss, or as the character assigned to the 2P.

And yes, I know this isn't very PC of me, but I'm glad they didn't alter or otherwise "fix" the names of some of the boxers (Pizza Pasta, for example) for fear of racial stereotypes/discriminatory reasons. There's always been a few jabs (excuse the pun) at those borderline derogatory names, but I personally see no reason to get supersensitive about it (especially since I'm part Italian. )

I thought someone just jumped in to Wikipedia's Punch-Out!! series article to post something without verification that sounds reliable after they saw the boxers at the TGS 2008 event, but when I searched online for the source, I couldn't find it, so FALSE NEWS. I apologize for posting it.

Cool, a new punch-out! Just hope it will be as good as the Super nintendo game. And If it's a remake of the original NES game, that's cool with me too, because it's a great classic ( I really enjoyed beating Mike Tyson). Well, let's see what it gives! ;D

If anyone is a subscriber to GameInformer magazine, they had a full-page article about it in this month's issue.

If anyone is a subscriber to GameInformer magazine, they had a full-page article about it in this month's issue. They did, but it really didn't provide much new info *at least, what I knew already*. Still, the pics of some of the older games were a treat to see...

Shouldn't be too hard to find normally. Google is your friend!

A friend has just informed me that May 19th is currently Punch-Out!! Wii's confirmed stateside release date. As of the moment, no delays or setbacks are expected in the forseeable future.

So far, I've found 8 verified boxers in this game:
*Glass Joe *Von Kaiser *Disco Kid (New guy!) *King Hippo *Don Flamenco *Bear Hugger (from Super P-O!) *Piston Honda (renamed "Piston Hondo") *Bald Bull
They say, however, that there's gonna be 13 opponents in all, which leaves 5 open spots. Care to take bets on who gets in? (Don't say Rick & Nick Bruiser, though; Nintendo's already confirmed that they're not showing up)
I've seen gameplay, and it looks like something worth at least a rental.

I've heard there's one more Super Punch Out boxer to be announced. So there'll be two. I heard Dragon Chan has been in the arcade as well, so I bet it's him... .. I'd much rather prefer Narcis Prince or the mexican wrestler/boxer. As for returning characters: -Great Tiger -Soda Popinski -Sandman and... -Mr. Dream (or a new exclusive as final boss).
