Very interesting indeed! If it's true, it could be that Sega turns into the nostalgic video game company, with Sonic and all the rest of their early classics being at the forefront (which I know would be able to support them by itself). Or, as another random thought, could it be that Sega had a big surplus of Dreamcast systems they never sold, that are stored in Japan, and now they're just trying to get rid of them?
