Hey everyone~ I'm new to the forums here, but certainly not new to the game. I first played it shortly after it was released, when I was only four years old, way back in January 1991, when I rented it from Blockbuster for a few days...but actually never beat ST up until early this month (on 08/08/08. Freaky, huh.  ) I've also played STII:ZR, but I haven't beaten that one yet, sadly. I'm working on it. Still, beating ST was quite an accomplishment for a girl gamer such as myself. Why I like the series? Well... I'd have to say for two major reasons. One, it doesn't take itself seriously. Even despite its near-insane difficulty towards the end, it's all light-hearted and often outright silly, giving it this almost Mother-esque feel (what sort of hero shoves bananas into his ears in frustration when he hears the evil villain's voice echoing in his head?) That's the main reason I enjoyed this game so much; it's got this completely unorthodox setting, it's smattered with ridiculous puns and terrible jokes, and your protagonist isn't this big tough Simon Belmont-esque hero, but this 15-year-old American baseball player! (who, I might add, from the viewpoint of a girl, is quite cute.) Alright, enough of my raving. I'm going to go show off my artworks in the art/sprites topic now. ;D Good to be part of the gang! |

Glad to hear you got around to beating the game. ST2 will likely take you just as long *in terms of playtime, not including the years of downtime you've had*, but should be just as fun.
