I was looking through the pages of the Nintendo Power that had startropics in it (on Mitch's site) and I noticed this. Were the scores out of 5 or 10? This could of had an impact on how the game sold if it is out of 10. I don't know how they could give graphics such a low score. I don't know a game that has better graphics (other than ST2) for the NES. I just thought that anyone who hasn't seen this before might want to see it.

From what I remember about Nintendo Power, they rate their games on a score from 1 to 5. Personally, I think the graphics and sound should be around a 4.5 myself, but everything else seems reasonable (including play control...).

I totally disagree with the ratings NP gave ST in general. The Graphics and Play Control should have been at least over 4.0 if not 4.5 Besides that I have no other disagreements.

well, the NP scoring now is out of 5(I think). so if it's that high, then the game should've been more popular. If it's out of 10, then not only was the low score keeping it from being bought, but that the people who rated it are really stupid. I think that everything should beat least a 4, maybe a 4.1. But I don't rate em', I jus play em'.

I'm pretty sure that they were scored out of five. The graphics might have gotten a lower score because of the blocky maps (which were all the rage with Final Fantasy games). IMHO, I'd say that the graphics were pretty good in StarTropics.

Thinking about it now maybe the sound part lowered the score. I don't find any problem with the sound but thats just my opinion.

It wouldn't surprise me either, but IMO, it's a HELL OF A LOT WORSE in ST2 than in ST1... Okay, I've got the anger out, may the conversation proceed...
