Ok so I've been working lately on ST3. Its completely different from what I did four years ago in that all my files for the first attempt were wiped with my old hard drive, and the only thing the same is the sprites that I edited of Mike. I know I have two topics now, but I'm trying to seperate myself from my last attempt. I was in over my head, and had ideas that I could not put into action. Now I actually am starting to get things rolling. CKY recently sent me the source code to his jumping simulator. I used some of his code and built upon it, and so far have what I would describe as flawless movement, but there may be bugs I'm as of yet unaware of. I realize the background may be a bit plain, but I'm more worried about physics then aesthetics right now. Currently I'm working on attacking, but I'm not sure how long this will take. I hope to have it somewhat right by the end of next week, but who knows. I'll try to keep working steadily on it, and I'm really hoping that this project turns into something worth taking a look at. It's pretty cool. Looks like you have so much already put into this and I guess it's going to expand pretty quickly from what you've said so far. Well, good luck with the project.
Just some bugs I came across while trying your demo: - Jumping while moving diagonlly up-left isn't working - Image overlap issues on the very left structure, left side, as you walk directly alongside it

I have the same problem. It deals with your keyboard buffer. I don't know how someone can fix it other than custom keys in the game, or a different keyboard. Alright. I suppose I could always take a look at the code if Matt is willing.

I must say, Matt. Your Mike sprites completely destroyed my Radical Quest vesion of Mike. Keep up the good work! Today I found out I have about 6GBs of Radical Quest material. It pains me to have discontinued the project.. But I'm not simply gonna toss all the effort I put into it away. So the resource library is still safe with me. Oh, and just to clarify. Jumping doesn't seem to work while jumping diagonally in any direction. Not just up-left. On a sidenote: Jumping over two tiles is haaaaaard.. Are you gonna go with a Megaman 9 approach on this one? In Megaman 9, some jumps were almost impossible to perform, since the sprite had to be holding on to the edge by ONE PIXEL in order to reach the other side or the ladder. XD Man if I had the skills to build up a decent platformer.. I'd go crazy with the level design.

Ok, I won't sugar coat the fact that I gotta lot of quit in me. Now for some good news and some bad news and what not. Bad news, I got a laptop this summer and at some point when transfering all my stuff from the home computer, I lost the file I had been working on. I have nothing at the moment except an exe file that was a very crappy early version. The good news. I'm now in college, a computer science major, and this semester I'm learning Java. Idk how far I'm going to get in it, but I'm hoping by the end of the semester I'll be able to do something game-wise with it. Oh, and I still have all my sprites and music I had planned on using, so thats good .

Extra motivation I hope to get it done, so that way you won't have to worry about transferring bits and pieces instead of one whole finished game. Keep us updated. I think learning Java will not only extra-motivate you but GREATLY enhance your abilities to do things within the game and make the final result even better than what could have come before.

Before I say anything, don't get excited at all. Not that anybody would, but just in case. As fate would have it, last week my computer, which is not even two years old, suffered a hard drive failure. I lost everthing. Every file I had since I first joined is toast, save for what I have posted here already. But we'll not cry for the past! Err..well I mean I won't.
To make a long story short, for awhile at the very least, I have no intention of restarting this project. I know I don't have the time, and I feel like every time I say I will, I just get everyones hopes up, my own included, only to hit a brick wall. It's sad to say it, but this project is cancelled.
That being said I hope to still be able to contribute around the forum ala artwork or otherwise. In fact I mean to. But here my work ends, and I hope CKY2K has better fortune than I.
