I just tried downloading the file...and got a 404 error. You've got to copy and paste it into your browser. Clicking won't work.

Don't lose your motivation already, it's only been a week. You have to remember that your target audience here are ST fans that visit this message board. I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. There isn't that many of them! It's a decent start so far, looking forward to seeing more. I also have to admit I'm impressed with the product you have so far. I'm liking the professional look and feel that it has. How you incorporated that massive overworld at the start of the game also amazed me, even if I wasn't able to enter any villages or huts (and there was probably more for me to explore also. I just worked north of C-Island and came upon the islands in the Captain Bell chapter) Well, it has that professional look because making games/tools is what I do for a living . Anyways, you can actually enter Coralcola, enter the dungeon, and appear out the other side in the current demo. Yeah, you're right gellin. I'll keep that tip in mind from now. Glad you think it's doing okay so far and thanks for the advice. That's pretty awesome that you get to do that stuff for a living. It's something I've always wanted to do and loved, so it's great to meet someone actually in the business. Very cool that you've managed to create and link up those maps gellin. It'll be a cakewalk for you since the system for that is all created now I bet. Thanks Zeed...I got it to work :-D And it looks really good so far! How are things coming along with it, Shadow? Thanks for the help there Zeed. I'm glad you think that S2H. I guess I'm off to a good start and I'm hoping to make it even better. As for how things are going with it so far, I haven't done any work on it lately due to real life being extremely busy. I plan on working on modelling the first dungeon after to get that style down. It's good since I already have a bunch of it down from my game engine, like the movement, linking maps together (so the rooms), etc. Anyway, I want to write more about it, but I've got to get going. This weekend is going to be busy too unfortunately and this day isn't over for me, but I should have next week to really do some work on this.

Take your time. It does nobody any good to burn yourself out trying to meet everyone's expectations. I look forward to an update!

Thanks S2H. Real life's been very busy as of late and a lot of change with it. Anyway, I've been working on a map editor though. Doing that map of C-Island was time-consuming, and so I'm trying to cut down the time and improve the efficiency of making maps. It's going good so far too, but I've still got some work ahead of me on it. Once it's done, it'll really help with making maps.

Wow, been almost a year since I've been here. Been thinking about this project for so long, but real life has taken up most of my time and I've had a laptop with Vista for a few months now, making it impossible to run my program and continue my work. I've been trying to get back into C/C++ and looking up DirectX9 so I can begin the difficult task of porting my work. Anyway, I'll post up whatever I do get done when I have it. Actually, I was reminded of this yet again when last 2 Thursdays ago, I went to a seminar for starting and running your own video game studio. Anyway, I showed the ST3 demo (which was just C-Island overworld as those of you who've tried it know) to one guy I knew, and another guy we knew saw it and came over, and they were really excited about it. They didn't know what it was, but I did them the favour of telling them about StarTropics They were dying to see the inside of the village, but disappointed that I didn't have the map made for it, so I should get it done.

Woah, you go do that, ShadowHunter! That's pretty awesome! Can't wait to see what you got there!
I know how real life is a pain and gets in the way of everything you wanna do.. -_- So just go at your own pace, man. Time flies for all of us busy in other things as well.
And kudos for introducing more people to StarTropics. ;D

Thanks! I know a guy who does pixel art for a game I volunteer for and I'm going to see if I can get him to help out with some sprites and such once I have things up and running.

Though it's a little simple, my Zoda spritesheet is available for you to use if you like. It's got a bunch of new sprites, so..

I saw it and liked it. Thank you for offering and if I do use it, I'll definitely give you credit for them. It would probably make the game that much more special if stuff from the community was used too. I've been messing around recently with a program called FruityLoops, which allows me to make music, but it's only a demo and so I can't save my project files, only export as an mp3/midi/etc. So, I have to do everything before I close the program, but I've slowly been able to get better at it and make some interesting sounds (however cut short they may be). I can put them up if you want.

Huzzah! After fighting for 2 days trying to make DirectX7's DirectDraw work with C++, only to end in failure and headache, I've found a way that can work afterall. Using the Dark GDK (http://gdk.thegamecreators.com/) as a template, I'm now able to create images/sprites/etc cleanly and efficiently. I can definitely use this to move forward with the ST3 project! Vista's incompatibility hasn't buried it afterall.

So far this has worked on my computer and another person's comp, but I'd like to be sure that it works consistently. Could you guys download the RAR file from the URL below and just run the EXE after extracting all the files? It's just arrow keys to move and Esc to exit. As long as it runs and the character can move on the screen, that's all I care about at this point. www.angelfire.com/gundam/hitme/Dark_GDK_Test.rarRemember, angelfire links don't usually work, so you have to copy-paste the URL into your address bar. Anyway, let me know if the program so far runs okay.

I tried using Fruity Loops as my main audio tool for Radical Quest, but I only managed to alter some already existing midis... Nothing big... BTW, Shadow, your link is broken.

Ah cool, you've already used Fruity Loops before then.
Yeah, you can't use the URL as a link. Copy-paste it into the address bar and hit enter. If you just click on it as is, it'll say it was a broken link. If you enter the URL in manually, it works. I don't know why angelfire does that, but that's just how it is.
