Anyone ever heard of Zelda Classic? It's a program made to be able to edit tiles, create maps and quests in the original Zelda. It was made by first making an exact clone of Zelda by pulling apart the hex code in the rom. I'm suspecting windapple to reply to this: How hard would it be to do this with startropics? p.s. Goto www.zeldaclassic.com to download it free!

I love ZeldaClassic!! ;D I used to have it on my computer, but then I needed to clean out the harddrive when I came to school, and ended up deleting it because I never played it. But yeah...I've heard of it and not surprisingly...I've often thought of what the difficulty of doing the same concept with StarTropics would be.

Well, how hard it would be relies on your skills. I have no clue about the structure of NES data in Roms, so I can't do anything on the real rom, there are some editors for the most famous games, so at least it is possible.
I'm personnaly not intended to create an exact replica of ST, court would hurt me, but with such a replica you can do something like this, just create an editor and let the replica read the edited maps, thats it.

That's something I've wanted to do for a long time... create my own ST levels and underground tunnels. I don't know if it would be possible, but would there be a way to make our own bosses using the same program? It would be sorta interesting to make new bosses instead of using the same 9 or so bosses that were used in the original game... but that's just me

One of my goals for my StarTropics 3 game (if I ever start working on it again) is to create a level editor. I have a much easier time programming than designing levels so if you guys actually would use it, I might make it eventually and include your levels in the game.
