I've done a lot of traveling during my life. I've always loved to travel and see the world outside of my backyard. I've been to a few places that, when I got there, made me immediately think of StarTropics. The best example of this was when I went to Mazatlan, Mexico last summer. When I got there, and was on the beach one afternoon during the sunset, it immediately made me think of StarTropics! The experience was to the point where it almost felt like I was in the game!!! I couldn't believe it... Besides this, I've always loved the tropics, and I think part of why, besides the warmer weather, has to be my lifelong love of StarTropics. My bedroom is even in the style of the tropics, with palm trees, bamboo, coconuts... StarTropics has affected my life in numerous ways. How has StarTropics impacted your life? Have you ever had a "StarTropics Moment" yourself? People who have played it for longer would probably have a better chance at this than those who have just started playing more recently, but if it's changed your life in any way, how?

Well, there was this time I was watching TV and I heard a sound that sounded like the Super Nova. For a moment I thought I was in Zoda's spaceship, then Everybody Love's Raymond came on and I was back to normal. However every time I see a yo-yo I think about Star Tropics and try to throw it like Mike. The only other way it ever affected me was when I was little, I was always afraid of the fire boss (I am friggin tired and can't remember it's name). I actually had a dream once that I was in my house and when I walked into my dinining room it was a giant cave with the fire dude looking like he does when he starts dieing and pounds his fists, and I woke up in a sweat. Then of course there was the fear that an easter island head would walk through my door any minute (this all was when I was about four or five). Other than that I've lead a fairly typical life.

I used to go down to Florida for February vacation a lot. Whenever I would, I would take every chance I got to go to the beach. There wasn't a single year that I didn't see any dolphins. When I was little, I used to wonder if any of the dolphins I ever saw was the one I saved, or the mother dolphin. Every time I ever owned a yo-yo as a child (and still do every once and a while), I would pretend to be like Mike and swing it around, aiming it at imaginary Zoda's or monsters hehe. I also agree with coralcola about the sunsets on the beach. Whenever I was in Florida and happened to be on the beach during a clear sunset, I would always feel like I was right on C-Island. Good times PS: Matt, the fire guy's name is Magma the Fierce...just to let you know hehe.

Everytime I see a palmtree or a mirky auqua sea, something inside of me does something, and makes me almost cry.
I have coconut shampoo. It makes my locks smell good. haha

That's funny! I'd probably laugh more than be scared if one of the Easter Island heads walked through my door... I've also had dreams involving StarTropics, mostly where I'm fighting along side of Mike trying to beat Zoda, but that was when I was much younger. I have a soap called Tahitian Vanilla, which sorta reminds me of the whole tropical experience, as well. Ahhhhhhhh...

Easter Island heads tend to make me think Gradius more than StarTropics, but, eh, to each their own...
Off-topicness aside, I generally think StarTropics when I'm at the beach, or when I'm swimming. Of course, the sole time I've actually been in Seattle (Some six years ago), I nearly asked my dad if we could visit Dr. J and Mike....

Well...when I was four, I slammed a yo-yo into a wall, thinking the wall was slug...thing...and the yo-yo bounced back and hit me straight in the head. I think that would change my life, not to my process of thought...ow.

Like all of you, I can't hold a yo-yo without thinking about Star Tropics. I have a good friend named Mike who looks exactly like the Mike in Star Tropics. I would frequently tell him not to despair, and that under the southern cross, anything is possible.

I still remember when I was about 6, going to toys r us to get pac-man. They didn't have it so we got star tropics. I remember eventually getting to the part where you have to dip the letter in water, and when you find Dr. J, and when you beat Zoda and he pukes all over you. After I had beat it I remember playing outside that I was Mike, and drawing pictures of scenes from the game, and figuring out how to make my yo-yo go strait out and strait in again, and hoping and praying that there was a ST2. I later got it for christmas and we have a picture from that christmas of me the seven year old, jumping ten feat in the air and shrieking with joy holding ST2. I don't know why people hate ST2 so much... sure the gameplay and setting were different, and yes the sound effects got annoying, but it was a great game, I was fascinated at the time with the idea of time travel, the bosses were great and more creative, and even though the music was different I really liked the disco sound to it and found it enjoyable. Startropics did make a great impact on my childhood. Warm memories come from playing both games.

I know this thread is over 2 years old, but I didn't feel like creating a new one when it falls under this category. I was playin guitar mindin my own business earlier, when I happened to glance at the clock. It read 7:47, it was just one of those moments, and I thought it was kinda funny, so i figuered i'd post it .

You've had 747 moments too? ROFL ;D One of the last times I beat ST, I remember beating it, feeling all happy happy joy joy, and I looked at the clock; "7:47" of course... There are other weird incidents. Many times, during crucial wins on SSB: Melee, my remaining times were either 7:47 or 4:17 (the date I was born). The first time it happened, I got a little freaked out... And writing this, why is it that I've just realized 747 has 7 (for 007 and 17th) and 4 (for April) in them, my two lucky numbers? *Cues Twillight Zone theme*

Well.. yeah. My trips to the beach. Ever since I can remember, I used to hum the Sub-C song while on my way there. I love yo-yos, and last vacation, I attempted to develop (lol) combat skills with it. I reached a point where I could: -Thrust it and return it to my hand swiftly without fail. -Rapid-fire yoyo throws(and returns) -Insta-throws (you don't see me "charging" the Yoyo at you, but it's a bit less accurate) But the yoyo string I had a while ago sucks.. it's too thick. (I accidentally tangled my previous yoyo strings). I think my love for travelling and adventuring comes from this game as well Not to mention my frustrating attempts to play piano, lol. The only thing that has to do with ST that I don't like, is fishing. And I suck at it in EVERY game! (except maybe Link's Awakening)

Everyone has 747 moments. Heck I got a stapler from my aunt that has the numbers 747 on it (it's hard to make out the first 7 in the picture because of the glare) Maybe I should get a picture of the 747 Flee Market not to far from my house I think everyone on this board is doomed to see 747 everywhere . Even I see 7:47 more than 5 times a week P.S. I have to stop using this smiley

No StarTropics moments for me, but a crapload of EarthBound moments I've had, including a very accurate recreation of the scene with Everdred (which really shouldn't ever be done in real life)
