Okay guys, we have a petition now for StarTropics III running, and fans making up sprites, art, and new game demos. THIS IS GREAT!
With support for a new game building exponentially, what are everybody's ideas for a new StarTropics game? I'm certain everybody has had some ideas for levels, bosses, new characters, plots...
My ideas for a fireman doll with Yum-Yum, Mike on Argonia, its new title, and fighting a Mike-clone Zoda, are just a few of many different ideas I have for another sequel. What are yours? Don't be afraid to tell us your ideas, we won't make fun of them, demoralize them, or laugh at them, or you for that matter (at least, too hard... LOL! ;D) Just kidding, SPEAK YOUR MIND!

I had an idea that could go with the storyline of being on Argonia. All the different levels could take place on a different part of the planet (almost like ST2...but without the time traveling part). I loved the concept of underground tunnels in the original games...but would it be possible to do it a third time? Who knows.
Some weapon ideas: Flamethrower (possibly the Fire Doll?), Jet-pack for getting to those hard-to-reach places, bring back the Spikes!!!, if the Yo-Yo (or something similar) were to be the dominant weapon, perhaps some special techniques could be learned.
That's about it for now. I'm no good with sprites or sounds or anything like that...but I'm fairly good with ideas for random odds-and-ends things. Hope my ideas could be worth something!

They are worth something! This let me imagine a new game... let's see if I could get something to work. This idea of different locations on Aragonia sounds interesting... But how to get it into the line with the fact that the planet is destroyed in part 1?

Oh...that part must've slipped my mind...uh...crap Maybe Mike has travelled to the remains of the planet where Zoda is now holding the Argonians as slaves or prisoner or something. I don't know.

The way I took it, Argonia wasn't destroyed, it was just really devastated, and that the planet wasn't destroyed, the cities and civilizations all were, but the planet itself was still there. Here's what I thought could be the plot with it all...
"3 years after Mike's battles in the South Pacific, his uncle, Dr. Steve Jones, made an amazing discovery in the Oxford Wonder World, which could possibly prevent the Argonians from ever having to deal with the misintentions of Zoda. However, Mike must travel the universe, unite 3 magic cubes and 8 tetrads all together to form a time portal, which, with the help of the Oxford Wonder World, will send him back 5 years ago, before Argonia was being invaded by the forces of Zoda, and stop his evil forces from destroying the Argonian civilization, and stop Zoda once and for all."
I thought it would be cool if the 3 magic cubes and the 8 tetrads all together could form pieces of one big puzzle, and that it would be used with the Oxford Wonder World to send Mike back in time, and stop Zoda before he even starts with his evil plans... (this could be a little too Back To The Future-esque, but it was just a thought...).

That's actually not a bad idea...and it sounds like the storyline could be open for a lot of cool stuff (or it could ruin the whole game...RISKY!). I really like the idea of incorporating the Cubes and the Tetrads together...as well as bringing the O.W.W. into the story again. So far, so good! One question...what kind of gameplay would all of this be in (2-d, 3-d, overhead, etc.) Because depending on the type of gameplay...there are limitations and advantages to each. Bringing back the tile system from the first game would be awesome...but allowing for diagonal movement like the second game would help out a lot too...so many decisions!!!

I think that the portal of time will be opened as Mike and his friends from High School will enter to Argonia and help save their world once again from Zoda and his Henchmen. I'll continue to write StarTropics Fan Fics after I finished College this Semester. That way It will be part of StarTropics 3 just like in the TV Show.

TV show? What do you mean TV show? Was there a StarTropics series on TV somewhere that I missed, or did I just read that message wrong?

StarTropics III's title should be: Zoda's Curse. Mike beat him and he died, but Zoda's evil spirit still alive, now Mike has a new quest, to save the world from the evil spirit.

Eh, sounded kind of cheesy to me.
One big no no I can see is bringing back the Tetrads and the Cubes. It's a novel idea, but most people will groan when they hear unoriginality prevailing.
One idea is to incorperate Yo-yo tricks into the action system, kinda of like a cross between a fighting game and Xenogears, if you understand what I mean.
As for the story.... Argonia sounds like an ideal place. Start off the game with Mike getting a surprise visit from Mica and being invited to see the new Argonia... have a few shoddy buildings set up, but have the kids working.
One problem is that there's only, what, 8 Argonians left? Building anything would be tough, and even more tough is that to appear semi-large, they'd haave to reproduce, and the kids are neither old enough nor have had enough time to raise children.
Either way, have Mike help out by getting a few precious minerals from monster-infested mines, kill off some annoying critters, that sort of thing. Then recieve a message from prisoners aboard one of Zoda's old spaceships that they are indeed alive, but being held by spacemen who are leaderless and just wandering the galaxy aimlessly.
Mike goes in to save them, fights his way through alien hoards, and arrives at the holding cell. Instead of Argonians, however, our hero is captured himself! His weapon, probably his yo-yo with some enhancements from the work on Argonia by now, is taken away, and he is left to rot in the cell.
Mica contacts Mike and sees his plight. She urges her father to go rescue Mike and to take her with him. Hirocon tells Mica that only he will be going, grabs his sword, and heads off towards the spaceship. Mica is not to be left, however, and sneaks aboard the leaving ship to help out.
This is where the game gets interesting, as you now get to experience the game controlling Hirocon and Mico. Hirocon could be your normal powerhouse with a sword, and Mica could be a psychic magic power thingie. She also has the ability to track Mike, and so heads towards him while Hirocon, unable to find Mike, decides to head straight for the bridge.
Yadda yadda yadda, spaceship taken over and Mike rescued, decide to strike back at Zoda's forces to end the battle once and for all, go on a series of missions to different planets and such, and in the end find a cloning station with hundreds of Zoda clones, shut it down, find three more, shut them down, and then hear of one station left, go to shut it down and confront an awakened Zoda, who escapes, whil the rest are killed as they disable the station. Then it becomes the normal fight with Zoda, blah blah blah, you get my drift.
Anyway, that's my attempt at a story.

I love the music on those forums Osmose! Great remixes, if only there was a way to put them on a GC video game... Now, I don't know how others feel about this, but I don't think that ST III should become an RPG game... I've never actually been a real fan of RPG's in the first place, as they are basically just games of numbers in my opinion... I think that a good direction to take the ST III gameplay would be in the direction of games like Ocarina of Time for N64, or Windwaker (without the toon-ish feature) for GC (though some may say it may then play too much off of Zelda...) because you play in the first person point of view, you have to solve elaborately constructed puzzles, and you have a widespread assortment of enemies all over your large playing field to beat. Some might also say a Spirit of Zoda could also be too Zelda-ish (Ganon's spirit being released from the Master Sword, causing Link to release the Master Sword... blah, blah, blah). By the way, has anyone else noticed how Zelda and Zoda's names are very similar?? Anyway, maybe Mike can warp back and forth, using some Argonian device, or the Oxford Wonder World book, from Earth to Argonia, whenever he pleases, allowing for him to have to do some missions on Argonia, return home to, let's say, save Dr. Jones from his Zoda-controlled kidnappers. This would then be the distraction Zoda wanted so he can attack the remaining 8 or so Argonians left, lol, and completely take over their galaxy. Mike would then warp back to Argonia to stop Zoda and save both his and their universe. I also think it would be kinda cool if there would be side-quests, as there were in Ocarina and Windwaker. For example, you could have Mike go on an optional mission to save the Baby Dolphin again from a reborn Octo the Huge! Maybe Mike could meet up with the Mountain Hermit again, who could provide different spells and magic and tell Mike of different ordeals he hears villages are having all around the StarTropics (his thing is that since he is on top of a mountain, he can see EVERYTHING!... ) These would not be required to beat Zoda and the game, but Mike could get optional weapons and items by doing these missions that could make his fight, when he goes to the final battle, easier or whatever... Just some more of my ideas... I have a million of them!!

I say Mike should have to go in space and has a spaceship built from Docter Jones. The main task should be leading up to having to go to Zoda's planet and destroy the planet. You should be able to go to many planets on the ship.

That's a pretty good idea, CKY...Everyone is so caught up on the Argonia idea that Zoda's planet didn't even occur to me as an option. Very nice

I think it would be cool if the game was 2-D in some parts and 3-D in others. I also think that you should be able to use sub-c in a first person perspective. Also the game should be multiplayer. I'm not sure if the main game should be multiplayer or if there should be a seperate game mode.

[glow=red,2,300]Alright you could laugh and all here's my attempt at a ST3 storyline This takes place immediately after ST2 Mike goes to sleep as he is tired of his work of all the time traveling stuff. As he wakes up the next day something has gone wrong and he travels back in time to the time era of ST1 obviusly since DR.jones is safe and no argonians are trapped. thus a time rift is created and mikes prior knowledge seems to fail him as he thinks that it was either a dream or a fragment of his imagination. but as he thinks he is going to save DR.jones, mica contacts him along with DR.Jones and mike finally notices he is stuck this time rift causes multiple zodas other than three like in ST2. same monsters from ST1 and ST2 but mutated and stronger. But mike has his Trusty yo-yo which could probably upgrade and learn combos in the game an game idea question what if mike gained experience in ST3 and goes up levels?[/glow]
