I really like the progress you've made with the sprites!! From the looks of it...the rest of them will turn out great. Keep up the good work!

I agree the sprites are very cool and like the idea of keeping the mike graphic from startropics 2 but changing the colour ( I didn't understand why on the map his hair was black in ST2)

The black hair lays down in the nes fundamentals. It can only have 4 colors per graphical element, including one color for transparency. So they have to decide with what color they make the outlines of Mike. In ST they were brown as Mike's hair was. In St 2 they were black, cause that made a better contrast to the background, but the disadvantage is that his hair must be black, skin colored, blue or transparent. They choosed black...

The project is currently on halt. As of last week golf practice started for me, and thus I have much less time during the day to work on the game. Also, I have started work on a project of private interest with my brother and myself. Also, school will be starting for me next wednesday, so having school, golf, and unfortunately homework, It may be very hard to find time to do any programing. I know this may sound dissappointing, but I am hoping to get more experience in game making with the project im currently working on, in order to make ST3 that much better. My projected continuation date to start back up on ST3 is around late november to early december. Until then don't expect many updates, if any at all. Lata.

Haha! I got my cast off my hand today, and aside from some weird tan lines, its fully functional. I started working on ST3 again this afternoon, though its coming a little slowly since I still have to finish up the Mike sprites. I was screwin around for a little while earlier and made another banner for my game. img290.imageshack.us/img290/5636/st3alternatebanner7ic.pngI kinda borrowed the design for the 3 and the words STAR TROPICS from a certain person we all know ;D.

Those sprites look pretty cool. I was wondering if you have started on the actual game yet or if you were just doing sprites for now? Also, what do you plan to use to make the game?

That banner is awesome, Matt. I'm glad that you can continue working on your game and I'm excited to see whatever progress you make in the future!

Gellin, I'm using Game Maker 6.0. I'm kinda just make the sprites and programming at the same time. In fact, I have the 8 direction movement working, and I would have put in jumping tonight, but I had to finish the jumping sprites. I also aim to have some new tiles for the underworld portion of the game sometime this week. I've just been using the tiles from the original to test it. I hope to start making some progress on it, though I can't guarentee anything, because I'm pretty much learing this as I go.

Excellent news, I've been working on the movement for Mike this week, and I should have it finished tommorow. I had been stuck on making the jump animation look right, and tonight, in five seconds I took a look at my code and made it look awesome! Tommorow I should be able to make full animations for jumping in all eight directions, and add shadows to show where he is over the ground, because it looks really odd without them. Hopefully by saturday I should have a decent demo to show you guys how the game is coming, and see if you like the movement system, which incorporates things from both ST and ST2. Thats all for now, lata.

Hey, does anyone know a good file hosting website I could upload the demo to? The one I usually use is down.
