Gaming news group GameXplain recently released a bunch of videos on their YouTube channel to celebrate the Nintendo Switch's first anniversary since launch in March 2017. One of these videos was called " 10 Dead Nintendo Series That Deserve an Extra Life on Switch", where they discuss at least ten dormant Nintendo IPs that could be potentially revived for the Nintendo Switch with new entries and whatnot. Apparently, they actually included StarTropics as a potential candidate that needs to be revived with a new game for the Nintendo Switch. That's a great exposure of StarTropics for the masses right there! Check out the StarTropics entry at 2:34 in the following video embedded below:

Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention! I've noticed that lately there actually hasn't been any shortage of fairly big YouTube names who have been bringing attention to StarTropics. The Gaming Historian did an episode on the game, and the creator of the Boundary Break series even uses a (edited) picture of Mike Jones as his profile icon.
Then you have the inclusion of StarTropics in the NES Mini which proves that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the series, and that they don't necessarily want us to forget that it exists either. I'd say that at this point, no amount of online coverage (or even official coverage/publicity by Nintendo) is going to change how the public feels about the series, and that interest in the series has sort of peaked. The one and only thing that I think could make a big difference is if somehow the Japanese market garnered interest in StarTropics, and showed Nintendo that the series has potential globally. That would sure be a cool sight to see!

I love seeing all of this attention to the series in more recent times, and I completely agree that a ST title on the Switch could be AMAZE-BALLS, but unfortunately I am in agreeance with MJ on this one. If Japan doesn't show any interest in the series (and why would they? It was a NA-only release!), I don't see it garnering enough hype elsewhere to merit a full release. Perhaps if Nintendo was willing to release the license to a 3rd-party developer to be published on the eShop (or a full release...hey I can dream), I think that would be the best case scenario of us seeing a sequel.

Yeah! StarTropics has been getting lots of positive coverage and exposure lately.
Also, 4 NES medley music vĂdeos later, Johnny Atma finally gave ST some love in his NES Medley #5. I think hes one of the more famous metal videogame cover musicians out there, so to me at least is sort of a deal.

WOW! I had never heard of Johnny Atma, so I went and checked out his 5th NES Medley and I have got to say, that's probably the best metal arrangement to the ST Dungeon theme I've ever heard. Thank you for bringing that to our attention, Shini.
Wow...
