Greetings! I hope the game/editor is still being updated, because I have a few suggestions to make level editing quicker, easier, and perhaps even better.
I thought I had something else in my head.. but I've forgotten what it was... If I remember, I'll be sure to bump the thread and update it!
Anyway, keep up the amazing work! Do you have anywhere I can donate some $$? I haven't seen a donate button, but then again I haven't really looked hard. You deserve a lil' reward for all the work that you've done!
- Save room templates. Often, I make the same room shape over and over again. It gets tedious just creating the same room shape again and again when I could be just hitting a kind of "copy & paste template" button and then getting to work on tweaking the shape if need be and figuring out my tile/enemy placements. A feature like this would be a godsend! (Also, if there's a way to currently do this that I haven't figured out yet, please let me know! Same with everything else in this thread!)
- Option to disable diagonal movements. Sometimes, I want to create a dungeon that follows all the rules of the original game. I get that Startropics III is intended to be its own game with its own rules, but I really would like to be able to design puzzles and rooms that revolve around the restrictions of 4 directional movement. It kinda sucks making a puzzle around a 4 directional control scheme, then finding out the whole puzzle can be bypassed/trivialized by simply making a diagonal jump. This setting would have to apply to a whole area, like character selection does. (Example would be to add a dropdown menu labelled "Movement" with "4 directional / 8 directional" as the two options)
- BOSSES!! I'm sure this has been the #1 requested thing.. but BOSSES!! BOSSES BOSSES BOSSESSSSS!!! :3 Plzplzplzplzpzlplz! I want the C-Serpent! I want the Octopus! I want ZODA! I realize some bosses would be pretty difficult to program, especially the first Zoda encounter with the hands. But PLZ!
- Boss music in cutscenes. Currently, Zoda can appear as a character in a cutscene. This is great and all, but there's no boss music to go along with him! This simply won't do! No sir!
- Main weapon limit not always determined by current heart count. I would like to make dungeons that have enough life to currently use a Super Nova, but not actually LET the player use the Super Nova, even if that threshold is reached. It would be interesting to design a dungeon with 22 hearts, but have the main weapon still remain a Yo-yo!
