Hello, I have recreated the entire soundtrack of StarTropics that I've dubbed "Rockola" rockola.bandcamp.com. Right now I only have MIDI versions with soundfonts of all the songs but I am working on live recordings and I hope to be done over the next couple weeks. In the meantime, I think these soundfont versions sound pretty cool and they are 100% free to listen to and download. You're welcome. Any comments on the album you can make them here, I'll check back here daily. This way I can get some feedback and possibly make some changes before the entire "real" album is recorded.

Thank you for this complete album of Startropics music! I just listened to a couple of ones, but I want to listen to the whole thing before I provide any feedback.
Take into account that I'm no musician, just a casual listener, and big ST fan!

I have listened to a few tracks...and other than the aweful sound of the midi itself, the tracks themselves sound like they will sound really really good once they are recorded on real instruments that don't produce sound that make my eardrums want to bleed.

Does the MIDI sound really sound that bad? One thing I did not do is run a filter over the top of it so that might make them sound a lot better for listening because right now they're just raw with the soundfont instruments. All this is a huge learning experience for me and I didn't even consider that at the time but now I feel pretty stupid. I'm going to fix them all and re-upload tonight.
Well at least it sounds like you guys like the songs themselves so that's good. I'm still in the "pre-production" phase in recording because I want to get the tone absolutely perfect and since, as I mentioned, I don't really know what I'm doing I have to keep experimenting until I get everything how I imagine it should be. My goal is to get it all done before the end of the month.

Boy what a difference that makes. I've just re-uploaded all the songs with an EQ filter applied and they sound a lot better. That sharpness that was bothering you should be plenty gone now. Appreciate the feedback, keep it coming.

Well so much for that whole end of the month thing. I've been trying to get another job and have had a couple interviews this past week so things are looking up. I think I got a little burnt out because just writing the songs and writing them all out in MIDI took around 2 straight weeks of doing basically nothing else but write, eat, sleep. I have learned a ton about recording and know exactly how I'm going to go about it so I'm finally going to get started soon. If I do land a job that will slow this down considerably but I do intend to actually do this whole thing at some point, I haven't forgotten. I'll post here as soon as I have something.

Nice! I've checked this out before, but I'm giving it a good listen now. I find Elixer, Miracola, Graveyard, Memorial, Cubes (already one of my faves,) Argonia, and Memories to be my preferential selections of the album. Thanks for doing it! Don't get to hear Startropics remixes and remakes very often.
