It definitely takes time to be creative and I doubt what I've made is up to par with the creative talent nintendo had back in 1990, but I think it's a pretty fun little dungeon. I tried to make it feel as much as possible like the original ST, and tried to keep the difficulty about the same as some of the later dungeons to keep things fun and not stupidly hard. I also tried to compliment the new diagonal play mechanics the best I could too. It has a mid level mini-boss, an end level mini boss and finally the big boss too - you're not done until it says WIN! I'm posting it here because it's far from a whole game, and if ya'll like it I will work on a complete game with maybe 7 dungeons and send it in to be posted on the site. Feedback is wanted! good, bad, suggestions, everything! ;D Attachments:

Good job from what I've been able to play! I'm not sure if I'm a bit rusty or what the deal is, but I struggled A LOT at the room that consists almost entirely of sinking tiles and has the treasure chest in the lower right corner. I'd be interested in what others think but I wouldn't mind the white sinking tiles getting replaced with normal tiles so I could take a second to collect myself before the next series of sinking tiles.
I was only able to beat that room once after numerous attempts. Luckily the dungeon doesn't start over when you lose your last life right now so I was able to start at a nearby checkpoint. After that I got slaughtered in the room of the puffer fish. That was hilarious and brutal. I really enjoyed playing it though. It definitely gave me a bit of a challenge.

I'm really glad you found it enjoyable! In the sinking tile room I set it up to compliment diagonal jumping, if you don't make use of diagonal jumps you will die; however jumping diag too often will result in getting to the next sinking tile too fast. Once you figure out how to gauge the sinking tiles it's simple though. I will replace the tiles if everybody thinks it's too hard, but honestly I think it's a fair challenge as is. It can be done consistently every time with practice, it's not something that takes a million tries to do once and you can never be good enough to do it every time. That's where the challenge is too high to be fun IMO. I did make it a little easier though; I changed the location of the treasure box which gives you a break from the tiles half-way. Tidies the room up quite a bit too doing that! A much cleaner look. This gives me a great idea too. Once I get each dungeon refined exactly how I want it (I'll probably mess with this one a little, still) I will make a copy of it and make it brutally hard, that way people that have godly skills that think the original dungeon was too easy will meet their match. Maybe I'll even make an easy mode if it's necessary. Everybody wins! The mini boss woke you up huh? It's not too bad, you need to go in the room with near full health and at least one medicine though. My strategy is just to charge at them full force with the shooting star and with at least one medicine you should easily win. I believe there's two obtainable medicines before then (both accessible from the check, too)

Ok, I just learned how to link the villages and the over worlds to the dungeons and now I'm really excited about making a full ST game!
It's going to have a story line, fun detailed locales and plenty of NPC text to keep the story going and to keep things interesting. I'm going to include 7 full-length dungeons, the dungeon I posted above(which will be improved in great detail by the final release) is probably going to be the 4th dungeon of the game, which means the difficulty is reasonable and the fitment makes sense starting with 11 hearts. The first dungeon will only have 3 hearts which will increases just like the original ST.
I expect the last few dungeons to be much harder than the original ST, but not stupidly hard. It will be a fun fair challenge!

Here it is! The first chapter is complete and I have attached it to this post. This is a full fledged chapter of the game, not just a dungeon! It's a different dungeon than the one I posted above too by the way, as I said that is going to be the 4th dungeon of the game. I think you will all enjoy the character dialogue, I tried to keep it true to the original in how the villagers talk, as well as throwing in some funny lines that any ST veteran will appreciate. This is all ya'll get until the game is finished, so enjoy! ;D Attachments:

Chapter 2's dungeon is now complete! That's 3 out of 7 dungeons done. I'm starting to work on the final dungeon now, just cause I'm feeling evil. It's gonna be TOUGH! but still fun.
