I like the idea of colored potions and colored stars. It just doesn't make sense to have colored hearts in my opinion. Plus I vaguely remember that there already is 1 heart, 2 hearts, and 4 heart items that can be picked up. I do like your flashing idea and I can incorporate it in with some of the items.
Thanks for offering your help omnicron but I'm all set for now. I'll let you know if I need your assistance further down the road.

LOL, now I gotta interject my opinions on stuff... Flashing hearts thingy, colored potions, colored stars, potions going bad: WONDERFUL! ;D A long question for you gellin... I think an idea somewhat like this was brought up before (either here or in the ST3 ideas topic in the General area) but would it be hard to have some kind of timed level (you have 3 mins to complete this level or you instantly die, with a timer counting down in the bottom right corner)? Also, to take another route with it, imagine an entire tunnel is sinking, and as Mike is going through it, the rooms go from completely above water to completely below, and he drowns if you take too long. So, for example, if you were to play a 3 minute sinking tunnel and have Mike sit in one of the rooms for 3 mins, you'll drown. If you have Mike sit in a room for 2 mins, and another room for 1 min, you'll drown. It's similar to the timed tunnel idea above, except the graphics will show the rooms sinking the more time you spend in the tunnel... I know, I know, you must think I'm trying to kill you or something with making this game. In reality, though, all I want is for you to go just slightly psychotic with it... JK!

I like the idea of a timed tunnel, coralcola. You could have a scenario like the ground above it is caving in behind you and you can't backtrack and have to get out in a certain amount of time.
Slightly psychotic??? ALL OUT PSYCHOTIC is what I'd LIKE to see...but I'll settle for slightly if possible lol.

I always looked at startropics as one of the games that dosn't rush you to beat a level. There would be alot more suspense if it did though. Maybe not every level but on some levels it would be good. ;D

Also, gellin, if you don't mind me asking, what software are you using to make the games?(I hope to be a game creator for Nintendo when I'm older, so I want to get started young).

Also, gellin, if you don't mind me asking, what software are you using to make the games?(I hope to be a game creator for Nintendo when I'm older, so I want to get started young). Well if you go back and read through this thread you'd have found out that my game is created using C++ and OpenGL.

If I scanned a picture I drew a year ago would you take some reasonable ideas from it? It's like an advanced pause screen that show all of the stuff I always wanted in ST3. If only my pictures became reality. I also really hope you finish the ST editor soon.

Sure you can post any of the ideas you want. The worst that'll happen is I say no. But I may like it and say yes, so post any and all of your ideas and I'll take away what I like from them.
As for the editor I forgot completely about it. Anyways, I'm almost at a point where I have to deal with multiple rooms and how that will tie in with the editor will be figured out soon enough.

A new demo is up. Kind of a big update. It adds a death animation and drowning animation. The death animation looks kind of weird. It's going to stay that way for now though and I'll go back to it when more important things are done. Another big thing is the bottom display. You might not be able to tell right now, but it is all set up to be able to select different weapons and can work with up to 22 hearts.

I really like the new demo, gellin! I got to playing around with it and noticed a few things that I will jot down for your edification: When facing up towards the two jellies on the tiles, the Yo-Yo went through the first one and on to the second one...killing both simultaneously Jumping looks a little better. However, when I was experimenting with it and went to jump up over the tile of water...what should have been me going over it, turned into thinking the water was a tile, but acting as water and killing me. (Did that make any sense?) I love the display at the bottom. It gives the true StarTropics feel to the game. Great job, as usual, gellin. Keep up the great work!

Maybe a rumbling sound can be created and sounded every 30 seconds or so at first and be sped up the closer to the time limit that is reached, to imitate the sound of a cave falling in. Did that make any sense? Well, you see, I wouldn't mind him going COMPLETELY psychotic if it weren't for the fact that he can't create a ST 4 if he's stuck in the mental ward... ;D

cool, I'll check out the demo. I also have 2 more questions. 1, why does Mike flash red on certin times when he jumps?
2, where did u get the software for the game making?(I know I'm bugging you with this, I'm sry)
