Unfortuneatly when I download the demo it dosn't work. Hmmm.... that shouldn't be happening. Try unzipping this file to your Windows/System32 folder www.geocities.com/startropics3/opengl.zipIf for some reason that doesn't work, try updating your video card drivers. If that still doesn't work, your video card is too old and does not support OpenGL and you're out of luck Let me know if this solves the problem or if anyone else is having any problems at all or not.

I exracted the file and it worked. Its starting to look great! Hopefully there will be an actual demo soon (like with caves and stuff)! Or is this not going to happen for a while

Or is this not going to happen for a while Well I'm hoping to have jumping complete by Sunday but I never know how difficult it is going to be and how much time I'll have to work on it. My tentative schedule is: This Week - jumping next week - attacking week after nexk - any other odds and ends needed to play like an enemy or 2 1 month - demo Hopefully things will be easy and the demo will come much sooner but you never know.

You should show your parents that schedule--they'll be so proud of your organization.
For me:
Sunday: Master yo-yo Monday: Spin in circles Tuesday: Eat gigantic apple Wednesday: See fortuneteller about becoming a girl Thursday: Dig around cemetery Friday: Jump in fountain Saturday: Stop the aliens.
When I outlined my plans for them as such, they seemed to be astonished and astounded.

Oh geiss! ROTFL! ;D That's funny! LOL! Okay... My parents would respond to me with that outline with: "Geiss son, that's the most you would've ever done in one week if you stick to it..."

Anyone here still? It's been a week with no posts...
Anyways, I've updated the demo once again. No I didn't get attacking done like I had hoped but I still accomplished a lot. The majority of what I did has to do with making my code simpiler and more functional so in the future it won't be as hard to do some of the things that I've been doing especially checking for object collisions and the creation of objects like tiles and walls and what not.
Some things you will notice however: You can now change which way you're facing without having to move in that direction. Jumping has been perfected. Mike's shadow now appears. Water tiles have been added.
So now with moving and jumping perfected, the next update will hopefully include attacking.

Yep, I've been checking the forum every day for new posts. Unfortunately, I'm running out of new ST thread ideas, otherwise I'd be posting them. Anyway, keep it up Gellin! Hope to see the demo with attacking soon!

Ok I updated the demo with attacking now. Use your yoyo by pressing the 's' key.
I haven't decided if the attacking is perfect like I want it yet, but it's close. As always, your feedback is appreciated.

Yay attacking! Does this mean you are going to make the underworld soon?
P.S. My personal oppinion is that the attacking looks good and I don't see a need to change it.

Alright I know it's been awhile since I last updated. Well the truth is I'm getting towards the harder stuff in the game so I keep putting it off. I'm going to keep working on it though whenever I feel the urge.
This update while seemingly small, contains some rather difficult tasks. First off we have enemies. I only have the jelly right now but I created a nice template so that it should be very easy to add a new enemy from now on.
Another big thing was collision detection for touching enemies. I have yet to include the yoyo collision detection for enemies but I'm hoping that will be rather simple by slightly modifying my Mike/enemy collision detection.

Cool update! When do you think you will be able to make the enimes take damage?
