Ah Roller Coaster Tycoon, I used to play this game all of the time back when it first came out. I don't remember ever doing really well in it although it was still a lot of fun to play ;D.
I've never played 2 or 3 (I'm pretty sure that the series stopped at 3). Although I'm pretty sure that they offered a few improvements over each earlier version. I remember one of the key features of 3 being that you could view your roller coaster rides in a first person view (as if you were actually on the roller coaster) so I suppose that's kind of neat. I'd probably just be happy with the first game although there may be other benefits to the equals that I'm not aware of.

I played the original when it first came out, and I still have number 3, which i re-install and play from time to time...though it acts funny on newer OS's...
I believe the series has stopped currently at 3, though with plenty of expansions...there's still plenty to do with it! As well as a feature to upload and download custom built coasters off their website.

Forget the Hollywood mess. If I was host, I'd have Wheel tape on C-Island. :)

I'm a big fan of the series. 3 is the most recent one, yes, and I would HIGHLY recommend it if you're a fan of the series. 1. New graphical interface. AKA, it's REALLY pretty, and the controls are great. 2. You can customize just about EVERYTHING imaginable in a theme park. Right down to the real nitty gritty, everything is customizable, from general look/shape to paint scheme, etc. 3. YOU CAN RIDE THE COASTERS! This is the reason I got RCT3 in the first place, in that you can, to some extent, experience what it's like to ride on the coasters you build. Sure, that hollow stomach feeling isn't there (probably in most cases for the better), but you'll be able to see everything the people who ride your coasters would see (including the scenery), and... quite possibly... understand for yourself in some cases why your nausea rating is 12 times higher than your excitement rating...
