If there's one thing that I like to do it's designing levels for video games. Ever since I was young I always tried drawing levels for games such as Super Mario Bros. and StarTropics on paper but now I decided to finally bring some of my Super Mario ideas to life. Super Mario Omega (the name of my mod) is a project that I have been working on for over two years now and I made a trailer to display some of the progress that I have made. Of course I'm not just posting this here for no reason though. If you watch the video until the end you may notice something rather familiar . You may also be wondering about the name of the person that created the mod. Higsby (a name that may sound familiar to some people ) is a name that I somehow started using on other places around the internet. It's a long story on why I started using it though so I'll spare you the details . Also, if you would like to know more about Super Mario Omega be sure to read the video description, there's some information there that I didn't bother posting here.

OOOHH!!! I love those graphics, first off, where exactly are the Mario ones from? Many of them seem to be from Super Mario World but not all of them. I saw references to MM*2*, Sonic, and I think Earthworm Jim, but I didn't see ST. Did I miss it, or is there not one there?

I saw the same things, coralcola...and I don't think there was an ST-based level there...but I could be wrong.
Nice work, MJ! I'm really excited to see a finished product!

Hahahaha feeble MORTALS! There was a Spaceshi-themed level at exactly 2:00! I did not find references to any Sonic though. But I LOVED the Super Mario Land level! And the MM2 as well! Nintendo should learn from you! You fused Mario 1, 2, 3 and World! This goes beyond words.

Here's a break down of the 9 retro levels that can be seen at the end. 2:00 - StarTropics 2:02 - Megaman 2 2:05 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2:07 - Super Mario Land 2:09 - Zelda 2 (but you would never know it because the horrible quality of the video makes it hard to see anything ) 2:11 - Super Metroid 2:13 - Tetris 2:15 - The Guardian Legend 2:17 - Atlantis No Nazo It was a bit weird trying to make the ST themed level because ST isn't a side scroller. The way that I took its graphics and tried to use them to make a side scrolling level is probably what threw most people off . Also note that all of these levels have music from the games that they are based on so you can be sure to hear some StarTropics Alien Battle music if you play that level (the only problem is that the music has to use the same instruments as the original Super Mario World tunes so it doesn't sound 100% identical). Now about the other question, most of the graphics are from Super Mario games (SMB1, 2, 3, Land 1, 2, SMW 1, 2) although some are either custom (drawn by me or someone else) or from games that aren't related to Super Mario Bros. If you want me to be specific about where a certain set of graphics is from just tell me what time they appear in the video and I can easily do that . Thanks for the feedback everyone ;D.

Upon more careful observation...I did find the ST-related graphics at 2:00...yes. Thanks for the breakdown, MJ! Do you have any sort of target date-of-release?

Mid to end August (yes I know it's a long time but it's still during the Summer ). I'm going on vacation at the beginning of August so I don't want to try and rush it out before that.

Aha, I saw it that time. It went by so quick originally I didn't have enough time to study it to see the familiar sprites. Agreed with the Zelda 2, I couldn't see it, else that would've been pretty obvious. Also, where did the M-A-R-I-O coins idea come from? Seems like a major sort of "duh" idea for what the 5 coins in SMW should've had on them, but I haven't seen it before. Was it your idea? *Major props if so.*

Wow! That's an amazing idea but that's actually not what I did . The coins that you saw are actually just the "A(dvance)" coins that can be found in Super Mario Advance 1 and Super Mario Advance 4 in the e-reader levels. I would try to use your idea although after thinking about it it would unfortunately cause problems in the long run (because of the way that big coins work, if I were to create more than one kind of big coin I would have to insert them as Map16 tiles instead of the normal way. What this would do is cause the big coins to come back every time that the player reenters the area that they're in [so if a player got a big coin and then entered a bonus room, the big coin that the player got would appear again once the player returned to the area that they were in before entering the bonus room thus possible for the player to collect an infinite amount of big coins]) Ya .

Nintendo, if you are reading, I am currently in between jobs, unemployed, willing to relocate, have more ideas where this came from, and will be willing to be paid a lot less than a Physics Ph.D. would want if you hired me...
