Have you guys heard of this game? This is a game dedicated to obscure nintendo characters. Apparently, you play as Captain Rainbow, and must help the obscure characters living in an Island, make their wish come true. Several obscure characters have been spotted, such as Little Mac, Takamaru, Shin Origama, among others. This looks really interesting. Hopefully Mike could appear... ... I mean come on.. they live in an ISLAND... C.Rainbow uses a YOYO... and it's about OBSCURE CHARACTERS... if you put together all the words in caps, it reeks Mike Jones. ._. Not to mention the fact that if Mike doesn't appear in a game dedicated to OBSCURE characters, it really means it's goodbye... (Then again, this could be a game to Famicom characters only...) What do you guys think? *Waits for Parrothead*

Well, i dunno where Parrothead is, but i'd say it's obvious that the game designers had Bananas in their ears, or at least Mike Jones on their minds when they made this one. Of course, the bane of those who hope for a reappearance of the yo-yo-slinger is, as you hinted, that Japan simply doesn't know about him. Unless and until Japanese gamers become aware of him, there's little hope. But there's always Some hope. =P

In the case of obscure characters, Japanese-only characters so far have and have had more favorable chances of being included in games than USA-only characters. I'm not sure why this trend is as it is (my educated guess would be that it's because Nintendo is Japan-based, ok the obvious), but it's an unfortunate one nonetheless.
Captain Rainbow would do well to not limit its choice of "obscure" Nintendo characters to just "Japanese obscure characters", though. We all hope that includes our little-known friends stateside.

Captain Rainbow will only support some series that used to be popular and/or successful, which means no to these games and series:
* Stunt Race FX * Tomato Adventure * Battle Clash/Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge * Mole Mania * Karkurenbo Battle Monster Tactics (or simply Monster Tactics) * Alleyway * Solar Striker * Radar Mission * Yuyuki * Time Twist: Rekishi no Katasumi de... * Balloon Kid/Balloon Fight GB * Power Lode Runner * Power Sokoban * Sutte Hakkun * Marvelous: Another Treasure Island * For the Frog the Bell Tolls (a.k.a. Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru) * Tin Star (U.S.-only) * Gumshoe * Pokemon Trading Card Game 1 and 2 for GBC (2 is Japan-only) * Space Firebird (even though it was published by SEGA/Gremlin in the U.S., Nintendo of America also published it in the U.S.) * Sheriff * Space Launcher * Heli Fire * Sky Skipper * Space Fever * Hajimari no Mori * Sennen Kazoku * Koro Koro Puzzle Happy Panechu! * Magical Vacation/Magical Starsign series * Kururin series (includes Kuru Kuru Kururin, Kururin Paradise and Kururin Squash!)
And several others out there that I'm too lazy to think of.

I've been studying about the popularity and how well each game and series sold. Not even the StarTropics series will make an appearance.

I guess we can't trust Nintendo to bring the series back.. Unless a miracle happens and Zoda's Revenge on the VC manages to start a new-gen fanbase, I think it's up to us to ressurrect this franchise.

Perhaps no matter how much we support the StarTropics series, Nintendo of America will not bring much (if not any) of the series back. It happened the same way with the American fans of the MOTHER/EarthBound series. Starmen.Net sent an unusual petition with a bunch of fan art and stuff, and Nintendo of America still didn't bring back the MOTHER/EarthBound series back.
There's one thing I wish Nintendo would bring back: the classic Game Boy era, which includes:
* Super Mario Land 1 * Alleyway * Solar Striker * Balloon Kid * Mole Mania * Radar Mission * Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru * Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters * Donkey Kong '94 * X (Ekkusu)
Despite the Game Boy era selling well, it's not as popular as the home consoles are. Also, the spinach-colored, monochrome screen was a little difficult for gamers to see what they are doing in the Game Boy games. Nintendo's been bringing back the NES/Famicom era a little too much. Even though it's a great era, it's becoming a little boring now.

I think they're working on some kind of Game Boy VC for the DS, but I'm not 100% sure, so don't take it as a fact.
