Well, after 6 years of frustration, anger, tests of patience and what have you, I'm finally getting rid of my old desktop, the one I found the C-Island forumon and as I've realized, a bunch of other places online I frequent to this day. This is my last post on this computer, and it's about d**n time. I am stoked with what I have now, I had 2 of my best friends (who have wanted to build one for me for so long now) build me a computer with the specs and looks I wanted. It came out wonderfully, and currently, I'm finishing transferring all the necessary files to the new computer that I need. So, much like another incident of out with the old and in with the new, I figured it'd be only appropriate the last screengrab/desktop this PC would have is this: i26.photobucket.com/albums/c104/wheelloon/Capture_03272010_024357.jpgSo I guess this would be as good of a place as any to say thanks for putting up with me for what is... 6 years at this point too!? This is the very first forum I became a regular member/poster of, and it's one of the few I frequent today. A nice site, with nice people, with the best VG of them all (IMHO), have made it a pleasure. Hopefully in the coming years, I'll make it worthwhile for all of you as well...

Getting a new and updated computer is always fun. It's probably almost time for me to get a new one myself as mine is almost 6 years old. If you include my ezboard days I've probably been here for about 5 years myself and this was also the very fist message board that I ever joined and one of the only ones that I still visit today. You've always been an awesome member and the board probably wouldn't be what it is today without your help. One more thing, I unfortuneately can't see the image that you posted because it seems like part of the link some how got cut off. Once you fix it I would love to see it though .

Ahh congratulations I suppose Coralcola? Upgrading is always nice, even though there is that sentimental value of a reliable computer. I myself got my own laptop last summer, and it was the end of my era at my parents' desktop computer. I had used that for probably over ten years, upgrading it part by part when necessary. I nicknamed my whole desktop setup "Ground Zero" just because so much of my interests started there, not the least of which was this forum. Ok...nuf of this emotional stuff, I think we can all agree you've been one of the biggest and most constant contributors to these forums. And I for one am glad you're still around. BTW I feel like I really should've seen the WoF background coming

*Sheds a little tear* Thank you Matt. I just reference what I say again, and that if I didn't feel the people here, or the "cause" we all sorta are after here, was worth it, I wouldn't probably attempt to contribute anything at all in the first place... /Links should be working now, annnndd yep, you should've saw the WOF background coming. I did almost do one of the final cutscene from ST, but figured this one would be more obvious... //Last day of their old puzzleboard, do you remember where you were? I do... but here's the clincher, do you know how long it's been? February 21, 1997... 13 years... oy...

Congrats on the upgrade, coralcola. Best of luck to you with the new one. I'm always a fan of upgrading.
All your talk makes it seem like you're not gonna be around for much longer...better not be true. I remember first finding this forum way back in the day and am proud to call myself a lifer on this site. It would be a shame to lose someone with the same status.

Oh no worries S2... err, Scotty, I'm a lifer too here. I'm at a really strange point in my life though right now (20's tend to do that to ya, eh?) and I'm trying to work out a few things (in particular, trying to get things worked out to start my career/life path), and, as would usually be the case, it's going a lot slower and more difficult than I'd want it to. To a degree though, these past few years, I've reflected and felt I've been spending too much time on computers too, so I've been trying to engage myself in other stuff, maybe even just simply as playing a Nintendo game instead (uh huh, yeah I know, IT'S SO MUCH BETTER, EH?). I've been one to in the past to look down upon the interwebz addicts and anonymous loner types that I've come across and dealt with on and offline before, and I've been vigilant so as to not become one, myself. That's probably been what my absences have been a result of more than anything... BUT, the good news is, C-Island here has never really suffered from any of that, and the people are sooooooooo much more level-headed here than anywhere else just about online I've been, so I'd rather spend time here than a lot of other places. I just want some activity to start happening a lot more around here, so there's a doubly good reason to hang around...

Yea I know the feeling of uncertainty the 20's can bring upon one such as us. My absenses have been somewhat the same, but more for the fact that I haven't had internet in like 2 years. I've been trying to come up with topics to start to get some life breathed back into the old Island...but I just can't come up with anything.
Also, the fact that Mitch hasn't been around in literally YEARS has made it hard to do any sort of maint. on the place, most notably the background picture and emoticons. Almost to the point where I've very recently started thinking of *gasp* separating from this Island and starting anew with a fresh board (obviously not without sending Mitch a message asking for his blessing...not that I'd get one back :\...)

I can't say the thought of starting a new board hasn't crossed my own mind a few times. I'm fairly convinced by now that Mitch isn't coming back. It's not lightly that I offer to help start a new board. I know quite a bit of html, and I've had some experience with editing forum style sheets. If you would rather wait longer, I understand. The offer is on the table though.
