How many times do you have to hit the 3rd boss on chapter 8?? He never seems to die....

By the third boss I'm guessing that you mean Zoda's final form? (If you count Zoda's first form and the engine as the first 2 bosses). I don't think that anyone actually knows how many hits it takes although it can be quite a lot. Make sure you pick up the three medicine bottles that can be found by falling down any of the opening and closing tiles and destroying all of the enemies (this can also be a good way to get full health and 99 laser if you need it). Also before you go to challenge Zoda you can stand right in front of the door that leads to the room that he is in and constantly kill the spawns that come out. These frequently drop hearts and stars so it can be help you be prepared for the battle ahead. I usually start out by using the laser on Zoda (I find that it's faster than the Super Nova...or maybe it's just me ). After you are out of lasers use the super laser gun (the red one) if you got it and then as a last resort use the super nova on him. The trick is to always keep your distance, that is the down side to the laser and super laser although you can take advantage of the super laser's ability to hit 3 tiles wide to hit Zoda without actually standing in front of him. Hopefully that helps

Forget the Hollywood mess. If I was host, I'd have Wheel tape on C-Island. :)

And you all said that me considering the main engine as the 2nd boss was strange... SEE, I'M NOT WEIRD! NOW WHO'S LAUGHING!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! *ahem* An alternate method to MJ's, depending on your skill level, would involve using the super nova first, until you run out of power-ups and your health falls below half, then switching to your alternate weapons (your laser and ray-gun), so as to make best use of your supernova while you still have it. AND yes, be sure to get those medicines below the main engine room before going in to Zoda, they are vital, to say the least...

So...about those medicines... I never knew they were there until sometime last year when I was playing through ST on my Wii. Totally threw me off.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
