There is no real number I would think we need, but of course we are always aiming for a number like 1 million or something like that. ;D The point of it was to gather support for the new game together to show how much of a backing it would have if a new one was released (Yeah, I know, duh...). But, I bet if we got something like 1000 signatures, we all would be very anxious to shove that petition in Nintendo's face!! I would hope it would be released for all 3 systems (XBox, GC, PS2), that would be the wise thing to do, but if Nintendo alone just makes it, its just gonna end up on GC... oh well! However, by the time the thing would even get out on the market, the Nintendo Revolution would probably be the newest system on the market, and the GameCube would take the backseat, like with the SNES and NES 10 years ago...

They better make it for the Xbox too.... if not, I'll just upgrade my computer until it can handle Gamecube graphics and then get an emulator. I'll be spreading this around.

I added the petition to my signature at the GameMaker board, and posted a topic about reviving StarTropics at Zophar's Message Board & PocketHeaven boards.

I would think if they are going to make a new Star Tropics game now it would most likely come out on the DS.

If they started making a new StarTropics game now, I think it'd probably come out for Nintendo's new console.

Can't we just ask Nintendo to give the rights to an independent company we know and trust, who, in turn, develops it for all the systems?

My thoughts exactly, Osmose. Give the rights to someone like Atari or Capcom who make games for all the systems. That's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that oh well...so long as someone did.

Capcom HAS been making Game Boy Zelda games since Oracle of Ages/Seasons. The even made the new Minish Cap game.
I think Capcom would be a nice choice.
Althought the new MegaMan games tick me off... original MegaMan was awesome.

I don't believe it! I think we all have some kinda ESP going on here or something... I was thinking the exact same thing about having an independent company make the new game!! To add to it, I was also thinking that Capcom should make it as well!! Side-tracking a bit, I'm a big Mega Man fan. I prefer the original series more than these new, seemingly anime-based games they make nowadays. I hate them!!! Why can't it just be Dr. Wily vs. Mega Man again... I pray that when a new ST III is released, it doesn't resemble the MMX series or the Battle Network series, or I will SCREAM!!!! If Capcom has made most of the Zelda games for Game Boy, which I'm also a fan of, that would convince me more that Capcom would be the best bet to release a new ST game, and with that, for ALL THE GAME SYSTEMS!! I think that would be the best chance the ST III game would have in today's competitive market. Another company I think of that has released a great set of popular video games, though most not like those in the ST or Zelda series, is Electronics Arts. Who knows, maybe Square Enix could be a possibility, as long as its not a Final Fantasy ripoff... By the way, we're up to 68 signatures!!! ;D We're not that far from 100 now! WOOHOO!

I also had EA and Square Enix in mind...but for some reason failed to mention it. I loved MegaMan and was also a pretty big fan of the MMX series as well. I haven't played the newer games, but I have heard that they're not nearly as good. If Capcom was to take charge of a ST III, I would hope that they do a better job with it than they did the new MegaMan games. I showed my mom the petition because she's the one who introduced me to the game in the first place. She thinks it's an awesome idea that we're doing this. I think I'll add her name to the list Keep it up guys!!! Speaking of the petition, I was wondering something last night: when and how will we send this thing to Nintendo? And when we do, who exactly will it go to? Just some random questions I had late last night...

Personally, I don't like EA. They do buy many other publishers to become the biggest one. But that ends in monoculture... Here in Europe, only two big publishers are left, Ubisoft and Atari. And Electronic Arts holds the biggest stock part of Ubisoft, so they could probably overtake it. And when no other publisher is left, there will only be games which get much money for EA, and StarTropics III I think doesn't count there.
So, Capcom seems to be a good idea.

I liked the early MMX series games, that is, the ones made for SNES (X-X3). Besides being considered the eye-candy for the SNES system, they played similarly to the original series and the control of the game was also excellent. Capcom really poured their heart and soul into those first 3 games, which is probably why the series took off so quickly, and left the original one in the dust... The most recent MM vs. Dr. Wily game was Mega Man 8 in 1997, which is now almost a decade ago, so it's been a while since Capcom has released one... Although, the Anniversary Collection they released in 2004 sold a lot, so the fan support is definitely out there, and I have no doubt that gamers would immediately jump on it if Capcom were to release a new one, just like if they released a new StarTropics! ;D

Capcom is the best choice. EA is to... well, EA, and SquareEnix would rape it like they did Brave Fencer Musashi.
And aparently I'm the only one here who isn't a nostalgia nazi. I've liked all of the Megaman's I've ever played, including the Battle Networks, Legends, all of the Xs.....
