I was working on a StarTropics fan game a long while back, with RPG maker, but I didn't have time for it anymore and it basically got canned. I have the files for it around somewhere still, but I don't think I'll be continuing it. Not with RPG Maker at least. I have tons of ideas for a fan game.. I've been going over many ideas in my head the last few days. I definitely want to do something StarTropics related. Now, I'm not going to be specific because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but I plan on taking classes for some certain things that I'd really like to apply towards a StarTropics fan game. Something that would make it fantastic. And that's all I'll say about that. But anyways, how goes progress on the other fan games I remember hearing about? Now that there's the new board and all, I'm lost as to what was last going on with any of those fan games.. I hadn't checked the board in ages.. now I'm completely lost! And finally, what about that StarTropics GBA update I remember seeing screenshots for, by Mitch? Was that just for show? Or is that something with actual on-going progress that'll be playable? I'd kill to have that.. it'd give me another good reason to buy a GBA flash card kit. ;D Oh, and if anyone has any updated 16-bit or 32-bit or whatever StarTropics sprites, or even original sprites, I'd appreciate them. Well, that's all for now.. expect to get something StarTropics related out of me. I just hope it's worthy enough for the StarTropics community. EDIT: Oh, and even if I never do a fan game, that something I take classes for will still eventually produce something StarTropics related. I can promise that. ;D

Thanks everyone for viewing it and not leaving any replies. Just goes towards making the C-Island board even more dead than it already is!

Don't cry if nobody answers in one day!
My fan game is in very slow production, I've to do lots of other stuff these days, so it has very low priority.
As of the GBA version Mitch has anounced, there was no other mention since the anouncement.
The game by Gellin seems to be stucked in the Demo.
And I've never seen anything from the fan games beside off these, so they seem to be varpor.

Heh heh... my GBA game is something I REALLY want to do, but alas it was the dream of a highschool-Mitch... Now I'm in college. There's no time for learning how to program for new platforms for me... I think it'd be fun to add a chapter in a StarTropics remake where you run into an iceberg, and so you venture inside of it an it becomes another cave(a frozen cave!). It'd be neat! And at the end of it would be a frozen Yumyum in which would thaw out and attack you as the boss of the level(he'd be harder, of course). It'd be totally neat. I remember years back on some geocities site somebody was making a StarTropics remake... I wonder what ever happened to it... ? I think Windapple will be the only one to continue on this StarTropics-fangame adventure. However, goodluck to everyone who tries to make a fangame! The more the better!

Yeah I still plan on finishing my game but I haven't had time to work on it. It's my final semester in college and I've been swamped with homework and looking for a job. I will eventually finish it. It just might take me a few years...
Mitch, that was my demo that I had posted on geocities. I can't remember the link but I can figure it out and put the demo back up if you guys want to check it out again. Nothing has been done to it since the last time though.

Hahaha! That idea for a frozen Yum-Yum is great! I love it, though it reminds me of something you'd also see in a Zelda game, but it's still cool.
You could have an item like a fire doll (opposite of a snowman doll) that you can pick up in the cave, and you can use it on Yum-Yum to thaw him out and burn him to a crisp! Or, what about having a huge icicle over Yum-Yum's head, and using the fire doll to melt it and have it fall on Yum-Yum's head, instantly killing him?? Well, maybe that would be too easy...
You know what would be cool? Maybe, in the next game, the final level of it would have Mike fighting Zoda (or whomever at this point) on Argonia! Maybe Mica and Hirocon have been captured, and Mike needs to save them, so he then has to go to Argonia, by use of the Oxford Wonder World, and fight through the Argonian capital (now run by Zoda) to reach Zoda's castle of terror. In the final battle, Zoda can now cause meteor showers on the planet, which instantly takes away 1/2 of Mike's energy! After one defeat, Zoda then uses magic to make himself look exactly like Mike, and has all of Mike's weapons and items, and can use them against him. Zoda also has medicine, which he can use to refill his life energy completely as well!!!
Okay, I think I'm getting a little too excited about this... Thats enough, I've said my piece. I only wish that I had enough knowledge of game programming to make even just a demo of this... Oh well!

Actually...those are some pretty cool ideas, coralcola. That could be really fun!! Although I must say that fighting a Mike clone sounds a bit MegaMan-esque...it would still provide a challenge (especially if he had all of Mike's weapons).
Just as a thought...the Yo-Yo (or something similar) would definitely have to be the dominant weapon. Just a thought though.
I've said enough this time.

Well I'm glad to have at least some news about the status of the fan games. I want to get started on my own, and soon, and it'd really be a great help if someone could get me ANY sprites from the games. I'd especially like to get a hold of Mitch's updated sprites. Maybe Mitch and I could collaborate on a game together.. if he's not too busy. *thinks* You know.. what we all really should do is get a team together for a fan game. I'm not much of a programmer at all, but I'm a writer and an artist, and I'm very willing to learn how to program. My dad has practically mastered every type of programming there is, so he's going to sort of guide me through programming as I begin to learn how to program starting in the next few days. A StarTropics fangame is going to be my starting point for my first real programming project. If anyone can help and provide sprites or anything else at all, I'd really really appreciate it. ;D

Coralcola, your ideas are great! I ESPECIALLY LOVE the idea of a firedoll!! That'd be so cool! (er, it'd be so hot!)
Wow Gellin, that was your game on geocities!? THAT was YEARS ago!
My sprites? I can't find 'em anymore. haha How sad. I lost a few disks of mine while moving into dorm(along with some towels and bed sheets).

Wow, thanks! I have a million ideas for a new ST game, it's something I give great thought to in my spare time. I just figured that it would be cool if Mike could visit Argonia to fight like a Zoda rebirth, or maybe a Zoda-A (we had Zodas X-Z, why not A-W?). Maybe the title could be StarTropics III-The Wrath of Zoda or StarTropics III-The Argonian Wars.

I like the second one better (Startropics III-The Argonian Wars). I like it better because there's already been a Wrath-like title in the series (Zoda's Revenge). It's good to try and keep things mixed up a little bit. It would especially great if the game does take place on Argonia. That would be really awesome. Maybe have the different levels be different areas of the planet. I should be posting all of this in the ideas area huh? I'll go there now.

I found the link to my old demo. www.geocities.com/startropics3/Keep in mind it hasn't been updated since last June. Also that nasty glitch is in there that after a jump, it randomly allows you to walk off of the tile into the water.

Windapple, I thought you stopped working on your fan game... because of the copyright consequences in Germany or something......
I'm ashamed to say that I haven't done much work on Classic lately. My accomplice has told me that he has made some programming breakthroughs but I have yet to see them. Maybe his progress will encourage me to continue it myself.
I'm a senior in high school right now... and I'm taking a year off of school when I graduate. While I'm not going to college, I do have other plans that will keep me busy.
I don't know what to do...... I would love to see the game completed and working perfectly with a smash bros. classic online community..... but at this point, I don't know if that dream will ever be fully realized.

Windapple, I thought you stopped working on your fan game... because of the copyright consequences in Germany or something...... Yeah, that's true for the sequel. But I remake the original game, and offer it on an us server, that should workaround the copyright violence law here and the interests of nintendo in suppressing sequels as long as they play with the idea to make one their own. But the big problem is the little time I have to spend on this... I've sooo much other big things to do
