So today I went over to a friend's house for a small gathering. There were 7 of us, and one person wanted to play this board game called Catan which can accommodate up to 6 people. Since I'm not much of a board game person I sat out, and while looking for other things to do I stumbled across my friend's copy of StarTropics. Just for fun I popped it in and played through the entire thing before their game of Catan was even finished! During my playthrough, I started thinking about all of the secret rooms that were hidden in the dungeons, and how some of them can be very hard to find. My question to everyone is what was the final secret that you ever learned about in StarTropics, before you could say that you knew everything that there was to know about the game? Is there anything that you can remember finding out about years later after originally beating the game? One of the last things that I can remember discovering is the final secret room in the Ghost Tunnel. The room before it seemed a little bit too empty, so I used a Rod of Sight and lo and behold, there was a secret to be found!

Good topic, bro! So the last secret I ever found was (sadly) only about 5 or 6 years ago. There is a room in the Big Rock Tunnel (the final boss is the Twin Statues) that is rather empty and in the top-left area of this room, there is an invisible sinkhole that brings you to a room with a couple of chests that give you some more Asterisks and a Medicine. The medicine is pretty useful, but by this point in the level, I usually have about 75 Asterisks already. By the end of the level, I am usually capped out at 99. Let's hear some more!! How cool would it be if someone could learn something new about this game from this thread! Attachments:

Near the start of chapter 7 there's a room with spike shoes in it. I wasn't aware of this room until a few years ago when I was fixing up the ST1 maps to put on the website. I guess I was always so excited to get the vitamin-x that I completely overlooked the crack in the wall. I honestly didn't believe it was there and had to pop the game back in and confirm.

I don't remember which one was the last one, but there were two secrets that I discovered "last" among ST's secrets, both around the same time: In Magma's tunnel, the room you jump downward to from the room with the four rows of snakes: The 2nd was also the room before the twin statues. The asterisks made that boss pretty tolerable for me though before I knew about the hidden room, so they weren't really missed.

My last "groundbreaking" discovery was... Early 2009, I found out you could jump on top of the twin statues and hit them with a close-ranged weapon. I don't know how useful that is for speedrunning, but it's good if you happen to run out of Asterisks (unlike Obama statue in the previous level where if you run out of horsehydes, you're toast) XD

I'm definitely not surprised to see some of these secrets appear in this thread. Great replies everyone! ;D Coralcola, the secret that you mentioned in Magma's Tunnel reminded me of the Medicine Bottle hidden in the first dungeon of Chapter 6. During many of my earlier playthroughs I would always look at the tile in the top right corner of this room and think that it was really suspicious. Then one day I finally worked up the courage to jump towards it and I was absolutely shocked! Invisible tiles are very evil.

I never knew about the secret room in Chapter 3's second dungeon (the one you can get to by jumping down in a room right before the underground area) until years after I went through the game for the first time. Would have helped tremendously in all those futile Chapter 3 runs conducted by my much younger self!

Here's a secret I never knew about until now! Don't see it documented anywhere. Shoutouts to Foulco for finding this one. In this room in 3-5, there's one square you mysteriously can't walk on... jump on it, and you get some hearts! imgur.com/WJTC2vS
