I'm back! I got the urge to pull this file out of the vault, which is what I call the folder all my unfinished projects end up in. I had some trouble getting the color right at first because I was accidently working in cmyk instead of rgb, but I think I'm happy with it now. I might redo the palm tree as I kinda cheated a bit when I made it, but other than that, it's finished. Eventually I would like to recreate all the screens for the ending sequence, but who knows when I'll get around to it. I figured this was as good a spot as any to start though. Edit: Since I uploaded that last picture I finished another screen. I figured I'd do one of the simpler ones to keep momentum going. Also I can post thumbnails instead of the large size if it's a problem. I decided to vectorize a real picture of wood instead of trying to trace the original, to save time and look a bit better. I may end up doing this kind of thing for other screens, but I'm going to try to stay as true to the originals as I can. I've gotten quite a bit better and quicker than I used to be at Illustrator, but some of these will still probably take awhile.

Forget the Hollywood mess. If I was host, I'd have Wheel tape on C-Island. :)

Those are darn close to those in the game itself. Many kudos!

Wow, those look great Matt! I would love to see more of the ending screens vectorized.

Unfortunately recent events have caused me to be without a job at the moment. As I've been job hunting, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to start working on the ending sequence again, as I'm heavily considering using it for my portfolio once I finish. That said, I'm going to be adding them to the first post (and relinking the old ones). I've gotten quite a bit of experience since the last time I tackled this, so hopefully I can actually get quite a few finished!

Liked because of more ST fanart and that you starting this up again... not because you're without a job (been there, no fun)...

So....I used these in my portfolio for an interview yesterday. The art director really liked it.
StarTropics may actually play a hand in me landing a job. Will update.

So....I got the job! And some dolphins will be on the way soon. I meant to finish them awhile ago (it's like 80% finished).

Congratulations Matt! Are you willing/able to reveal the company? Either way, it goes to show you how personal passions can play such a significant role in the professional world. I'm glad ST was able to help you land the job... and hopefully make you very rich and famous...

Thanks! I'd rather not mention the name at this time, because it's only a 2-year old company, and we're currently bidding on a license that will basically solidify our business and make it basically make it the leading brand of our respective market. That's vague, but if this goes through, I'll explain this in October, and it will make more sense.
I've got some bad and good news. The bad news is that I haven't been able to work on anything lately, because I've developed repetitive strain injuries in both wrists. Today however, I realized it was due to my desk setup, so hopefully this goes away. Also, I convinced my boss to buy me a wacom tablet for work to help with the rsi, and he agreed. Basically it's like drawing with a pen on computer. I'm friggin excited to see how much easier it will be to recreate these scenes. I'm super pumped. It's going to be a little while till my writs feel better though. It hurts to type this in all honesty, and I'm just really excited about everything.
