Over in the Happy 2009 thread I started, me and shinigamihedgehog were discussing the Pilotwings Wii rumor that has been lurking here and there on gaming boards lately:
Oh and for the Pilotwings rumor.. This is the message I found:
----
Multiple game retailers have had a listing for Pilotwings Wii for a long time now…years, to be exact! We got excited at first, and then eventually blew the listings off as a mistake. Of course, we should know that pesky rumors just won’t die. A Pilotwings Wii rumor has resurfaced, and the guys at LiveWii say that the title will be coming sometime in the first half of 2009. The rumor also states that the title will support balance board control and Mii integration.
For many, Pilotwings is Nintendo's most brilliant franchise; an oft-serene experience that allowed players to complete air-based challenges using all manner of transport.
The last game in the series, Pilotwings 64, was released in 1996, so a sequel is long overdue. Rumours of a Wii version for the franchise have been around for years, and now LiveWii claims to have information that it will materialise during the first half of 2009.
Not only that, but the site also claims that the game will support Wii Balance Board, as well as Miis.
Just rumour and speculation for now, but wouldn't it be great if it all came true?
Regarding the main sources of the rumor and further discussion of such, This is the primary source, and the website referenced in the quote, LiveWii, is a French website; further information on the possibility of a Pilotwings Wii can be seen through the link in the VGChartz article, or [url=http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.livewii.fr%2Fnews%2F113603%2FPilotWings-sur-Wii-.html%3Fc%3D4&sl=fr&tl=en
]here.[/url]
I wholeheartedly agree that this is another obscure Nintendo franchise that completely deserves a sequel on the Wii.
Thoughts or further input, anyone?
happy new year everyone!
