V.G. maps shows that there is no secret passage in any cave in chapter 3. It's either 1- you mistook it for a different passage OR 2-He is the only one who knows about the passage. Heres the link. Take a look for your self www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/NES/index.htm#SuperMarioBros3The startropics maps are above the SMB maps.

Bah! I will try to play soon and find it! I know there's a secret. It's when you're in the dark, and you kill a ghost (or some other kind of trigger) and a passage opens! I'll prove it to all y'all soon!!

Is that by any chance in chapter 5 when you have to use the light wand to reveal the ghost and kill it to open a door to get a red potion?

Yup...there is. In the room directly to the left of the room with the 4 Silver Ball traps, there is a room that looks a lot like the potion rooms in the rest of the game. You can acquire a Baseball Bat in here...but use the Rod of Sight and reveal a ghost in the upper right corner of the room and it will open the door at the bottom of the screen and you can get the potion by revealing it through the hidden trigger block.

Well, I'm aware of the potion. I'm thinking of a level where there is an alternate EXIT out of the cave, a shortcut. This weekend, I will play it, then I'll explain in detail.

If?? IF?! I WILL find this, because I KNOW it exists. The 4th whistle in Mario Bros. 3 was a figment of my imagination, but this is FACT. And when you leave the cave it even mentions that you found the secret exit right before it registers your points and saves.

That website doesn't have all the passageways marked, I know that. Looking at the Alien Spaceship map, I know they missed at least one passage that leads to a medicine bottle, and I think they missed another that leads to a super blaster thingy.

Okay, I just played it... and I'm terribly disappointed. There is a passage just as I thought there was, but apparently, if you DON'T go that way, the other exit just leads you out of the wrong end of the cavern. Therefore, you have no choice but to take the 'secret' passage. It's in chapter 3, your ship was wrecked, after you fight off the skeleton dodo birds, you enter a room with bats. Turn on the lights (via lightsquare), and there is an exit on the top, opened by foot pedestal. If you exit to the left, then it'll send you to a staircase, which leads out the wrong end of the cave and you'll have to go through the whole level again.
So, I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood. But I'm going to play the whole game again, if I have time, in case my mind is playing tricks on me and there's another secret exit I've forgotten. I was playing in review mode this time.

Hey, did ya'll know that you can kill zoda's head(ch. 8) with only 4 hits from the yo-yo?! It's true! All you have to do is hit Zoda's head once each time his head apperes for 4 times. On the 4th time, he'll die. This will save work and/or ray gun bullets.
(Ps: No matter how many times you hit Zoda, he WON'T die until you hit him on his 4th apperence, no matter if you hit him 4 or 40, he won't die until you hit him on the 4th apperence! Tried it, so I know it works!)

Thanks for the friendly welcome. I hope that trick will help you. I have another one that involves the monster form of Zoda.
It takes __ shots with __ weapon to kill him:
34 with the Super Nova 51 with the Shooting Star(Morning Star) 102 with the Yo-Yo.
I know the #'s are close to that, I got 32 SN, 49 SS, and 97 YY, but I believe I lost count. (PS, once again, I've tried this, and(yes, for all of you wondering, I did beat Zoda with the Yo-Yo only) it works as well. I have many, many more hints u my sleeve and am willing to share them with my fellow Startropics 1 and 2 players.
